ok, Im putting together a computer for my g/f . She wants a pretty cheap one . We are looking at something Under 1000 canadian ( 820 bucks american i believe )

Now, she will be using this computer for surfing the net, Email, solitaire, music and maybe watch some movies .

This has to include EVERYTHING right down to the keyboard + mouse.

Things that She would like to have are

1. 1 gig of ram
2. Black case and a matching keyboard + mouse ( She currently has a crappy beige one )
3. LCD monitor must have, I'm hoping we can fit in a 19 incher if not then a 17 will have to do.
4. CPU shouldn't lag at all, She hates SLOW load ups hehe. Very impatient women.

Ok i think i got everything if not you can mention it .

Yes we can. But, i figure I get the go ahead from the anandtech forum guys first 🙂 I just dont wanna make the wrong purchase

Btw, is this a unrealistic budget? I was pretty close to that mark with choosing the parts myself. I found a Dell 3000 with a few upgrades was a bit over 1000 bucks canadian.

ntel® Pentium® 4 Processor (2.80GHz, 533 FSB), Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Unit Price $1,179.00 << thats the total price i came up with

For that price, you pretty much have to go Dell to get an LCD and a snappy processor. And most Dell's have black cases, keyboards. I don't know about getting the 19" though...

She's a "Very impatient women"... Order her a Dell and be done with it.
Why do you need the grief of lifetime tech support hanging over your head?
Resist the urge to "build" and just order a Dell. Save your "build" for yourself.

techbargains... then go to the coupon tab
