The family camcorder died over christmas, and my dad just emailed me saying they're going to buy a new one this weekend.
Here lies the problem. When it died on Christmas, I mentioned that most newer camcorders you just hook to the TV and play the tape back through the camcorder. He did not like this idea. Is there some format other than VHS-C (which is older and I'm afraid the stuff that's out there is going to be old and antiquated compared to the newer models) that allows playback through a VCR? Buying a MiniDV VCR isn't an option either (and frankly, for the $900 they want, I could get a DVD Burner and a firewire setup for his pc).
