One great use for useless cables is fashioning them into a noose to kill yourself with eventually.

... but you don't have to take my word for it!

Nah when I go I'm taking others with me.

BTW you sort of talk like I should know you, but obviously I shouldn't, why? Unless your a 2nd account or something? :hmm:

When I go, I want to go quietly in my sleep like my grandfather...not screaming and crying like the passengers on the bus he was driving...

I don't think you know me, though I believe we've interacted in a thread or two at some point not too long ago.

I've been around these forums for the better part of a decade but forgot my old account info when I basically became amish/hippie/went off the grid for a few years around '06. Even prior to that I was mostly a lurker.

Haven't seen this particular variation. It IS one of the better "one liners" I've come across though. 😛

I have about 100x that many. I keep every cable . If I am throwing out something and it has a wire attached, I cut it off and save it. The reason is that I can always find a use for a piece of wire and with copper costing what it does, why not.

Last month, I threw out two boxes like that. Plus a box that had an old camera, two scanners and a Tivo.

On the table is a Wilesco miniature steam engine.

And yes...you're seeing the best computer speaker system I've ever owned. Unfortunately, I'm missing one of the surround speakers. If you're still interested, and I can find everything else, it's yours for shipping costs.

woot!

I have a somewhat battered but most likely still very good CS system sitting in a drawer in my room here as well:

Welcome to come by and take it off my hands. 😛

Thing was that it was a pain to have it set up and I never had the space for it. Then the neighbors would complain if I turned it up 🙁 So I moved to a Klipsh Promedia 2.1 setup which IMHO actually sound better! But again the neighbours complained :'( And trust me I rarely tuned it up loud, they just have this really annoying entitled bitchy daughter. So I'm now just using $50 Sennheiser headphones. Plan to get a really good pair of headphones one day.

yeah. I had an old shit-ass Creative 5.1 system that I eventually just did away with. pain to set up, and I really don't care about computer sound, anyway. I'm now rocking a small logitech 2.1 system with 1/4 the footprint.

During the summer, I started cleaning out the left loft of my barn to make more room for stuff that I need (straw, plus I outgrew the other side, as it'll only hold about 1200 bales of hay.) In the process, I threw out boxes upon boxes of computer "stuff." About 20 keyboards, several hundred pounds of miscellaneous cables (so high in plastic that it wasn't worth the bother to separate out the few pounds of copper for scrap.) Assorted mice, headsets, etc. - crap that no one will ever need or want. I'm still hanging on to a couple of laserjet printers & about a dozen toner cartridges. I don't know what the hell for though.

This is very true. I learned this when building my arcade cab recently and realized I'd run out of usable wire to solder with. Thankfully a quick google showed that the individual wires inside RJ45 are the perfect gauge.

Logitech Z 313, LS21, Z 623 ?? Sorry habit from working at NCIX 😛 For the price Logitech actually make some of the better value speakers.
