Anything by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. "The Idiot" is my favorite.

Good read, but fun? no way. Russian novels are meant to be read when you have an extended period of time. No way for a casual read.

And if you have never read it you should read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. the book is insanly better then the movie. Even if you have read it, isn't it time you read it again?

I could give you book recomendations all day, I read about 3 books a week, sometimes more.

Ender's Game is quite good

Yes, yes it is. As are all the books in the Ender serious (though Speaker for the Dead is iffy) and also the Alvin Maker series.

Tom Robbin's books are interesting.
Jitterbug Perfume
Still Life With Woodpecker

A Brief History of Time

Most of the classics would be good to read on a quick journey everyday.

I found Childern of the Mind to be the weakest of the series, but Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon were brilliant! I have not had the chance to read Shadow Puppets yet, but I am looking forward to it.
Edit: Just found out there is another Bean book out: Shadow of the Giant (and it is already in paperback!)
