IP address restrictions under IIS? Using either the directory security tab under FTP or Default Web Site the IP restrict options are grayed out. Is this because I'm only using the IIS that comes with Win 2K? (my guess)

If that's so couldn't those sum-ma-batch cork-sucking iceholes just have enabled that one little tiny option for this version!

Its most likely because your using Win2k Professional. You could probably set it up if you were using Win2k Server.

IIS 5.0 comes with windows 2k, period, Win2k Advanced Server offers some better admin tools but no extra functionality, goto Microsoft.com and search for what you are looking for. My old job had Win2k servers (Proffesional) and had all the IIS 5.0 tweaks, including IP blocking

well, to say that win2k server doesn't offer any increased functionality isn't quite true... for example, in win2k pro, you cannot enable virtual sites under the webroot. they all have to live under the main site root. in win2k server, you can have multiple virtual sites in iis. the difference is that, in win2k pro, if you turn off one site, you turn off all sites. in win2k server, you can turn on and off individual sites... someone correct me if i'm wrong on this one...

whats the difference between win2k server and pro in terms of its "normal" functionality? i would like to be able to have more options on the server side but i dont want it to suck up a whole lot more resources. those with experience, do you think its worth it to use server vs pro?
