Need a bit of Network set-up help

I want to setup the following scenario:

broadband access for a small business with both a hard-wired & wireless network.

Is there a way to only use one wireless router (SMC or linksys 802.11g) and to set up the following scenario:

Wireless users have access to internet but do NOT have access to wired network
Wired network has access to both the internet & the wireless network.

The reason being is that there is going to be accounting software on the wired network. I don't want that hackers which are able to hack into the wireless network are able to access the wired network (accounting) as well.

Is there a way to seperate the two networks using a Linksys or SMC 802.11g router?
Thanks for all the help.

The setup you proposed is fine except for the fact you can't block one network from accessing one but allow that one to access the same network which is being blocked. This is impossible since all connections are a two-way thing - an syn and then an ack. You can just setup your wireless network in a secure manner so that nobody can access it anyways. Use a unique SSID and tell it not to broadcast the SSID and then use 128-bit WEP and MAC address filtering. It'd be pretty difficult to access a wireless network with all of those preventive measures in place.

TheUnhappyCamper,

thanks for the advice. I will make sure to do that.
Is it maybe possible to set up multiple workgroups under the same network? And restrict access to one workgroup?
I.e. have a workgroup called "accounting" and one just plain "workgroup" but make them not be able to access each other? Is that possible, considering all computers will be running windows?

Thanks

There is not too much you can do with Entry Level Equipment

If it is very important you will have to use higher level hardware or set the whole system through a server.

If you determined to stay with Entry Level, you can add another measure of security to the above by installing NetBEUI and do the wired sharing through NetBEUI.

Link: Set NetBEUI as the Default Sharing Protocol in WinXP.
