Need a 4-core socket 775 LGA processor ...

Does anybody have a socket 775 LGA Core 2 Quad processor in his/her storage/box/etc to send to a new home in Sweden? ()🙂

My trusty old Q9550 is slowly quitting on my; and this computer is my main back-up server with several terabytes of pics and docs on a RAID-array. I suspect that the CPU will quit within a few days. I don't dare to upgrade to an other mobo/operating system before I've backed up the RAID-array and I don't have sufficient external storage to do so (need at least 8 TB).
I have started but I need to buy one more external HDD and but it takes time through a USB-2 connection ...

If it crashes on me I need to replace the CPU to complete the operation ... The RAID-controller is so old that there are no drivers for Win 7 or Win 8 around and I don't dare to put the controller on an other mobo since there is a very real risk of the raid array being erased and rebuilt. I have all the data on tape --- but that would take a week to restore ...

BTW, the Q9550 has been crunching 24/7 since 2009 - that is for 5 years and 4 months ... for more than 46 000 hours, 8 hours unplanned downtime (PSU-problem) and less than 24 hours planned down time.

Of course I'll pay for any shipping, customs etc ... but I can not find any such processor for sale in Sweden!

I think I've got an old P4 socket 775 CPU, but that's not even dual core, and not sure if that will help you.

I see some socket 775 Q6600, Q6700 and Xeon cpus on ebay for $25-30. Can you mb handle any of those? I could always ship to my home and then ship it out to you, assuming they only ship to US addresses.

Thanks team-mates, I am looking around too.
As far as I can see any fitting processor would do, since I only need to make an extra back-up of the RAID-array in case there is a problem when I put it into an other computer.

I've got a spare E5200 lying around (it overclocks to 3.6 GHz btw 🙂), it's only dual core but that would be good enough for just doing a backup wouldn't it?
I see on ebay it's only worth £1! So you can have it for just the shipping 😉

Failing that, at least here in the UK their are tons of S775 quad cores on ebay.

Btw how do you know it's the CPU dieing & not the mbrd? Would be unusual......

Quite simple:
CPU-z shows that only 2 or 3 cores are working when the computer is idle and at approx 45ºC (should be 4 cores) - depending on situation. When I move the CPU to an other mobo CPU-z shows exactly the same ...
In certain BOINC CPU-projects the CPU throws a lot of computation errors when running on two different mobos.
Stress testing the CPU in two different mobos throws the same errors.

Looks quite logical.

I have 60% of the RAID-array backed up now. The rest will be done by tomorrow evening and then the situation is solved ...
