need a 120mm fan that is THIN. half height, i.e. ~1/2 inch or ~12mm

Not going to happen. Search this forum for thin 120 fan...In the archives too.

The best you can do for a 120 that's thin is to bond 4-60x10s together. Sand two sides of each dead flat, then hook'em together with super glue, then run'em at 5V. The outer four mounting holes will be just a tad further apart than a 120x25 fan. I did check once for someone else. That set-up at 5V would drive about 20cfm in near silence, at 12V, about a buzzy 40cfm. allelectronics or BGMicro have then at about $2.50 each.
Sure would be a bunch of wires to splice together.

thanks for the reply, i did a search for "120mm 12mm" and "120mm thin" and didnt find anything. both in the currents and the archives. i wont say it was exhaustive but i couldnt find anything

also why splice wires and not just run all 4 separately? is there a good reason for this besides using less plugs?

Well the fans would be stuck together, so why not the wires. I splice every thing I can.
Cut, splice, solder and heat shrink. I hate adapters all over the inside of a comp.

I'll look for that thread and link it if it's found.
*EDIT*: NO LINK, shoot! I guess that's another one that was lost when our site crashed.

Zalmann makes a thin one. It comes as an optional add-on for the silent GPU coolers.

Zalman makes a 15mm thick 80mm fan. I just ordered four this past Friday.
Zalman makes 92mm fans but not a 120 is to be had. The OP is looking for a THIN 120.
I have yet to see a link to a thin 120. Care to link one for us?? Do you feel Lucky 😛

The fan you must be looking for is 120x120x15mm. They do make them. IIRC, it's either Nidec or Delta or Sanyo that made them. I want to say Sanyo. But, at my last job, they did have them available. And they are expensive for just 1. In the ballpark of $45+ each if you don't purchase in quantity. Quantity being atlast 100 minimum.

They were noisy, but low profile for the embedded hardware. I'll see if I can find the spec on which brand it was.

Finding a thin 92mm is hard.....finding a thin 120mm virtually impossible. I remember seeing some off-brand PSU that had a 20mm thick, 120mm fan. Thats the only one I've ever heard of....Glue 4 60s. That's the only way right now.

Anyone know where one can obtain a thin 92mm fan?

SVC, newegg... search Zalman under the fans and HS section.

I must be missing something cause I don't see any. I just went to SVC earlier this week to pick up a Zalman 80x15mm fan though.

Are you sure Zalman makes a 92x15 fan? I don't see mention of any such fan on the Zalman website.

REMEDY SAYS THEY EXIST< WHERE ARE THEY 😀D

Your best bet is probably to use a 80 or 92mm thin fan in conjunction with a fan adaptor mounted backwards...not the best settup, but 120 *15mm fans are near impossible to get
