Hello!
I have an oldie G.Skill FM-25S2S-64GBF1 64GB SSD.

It is going very slow according to HHDtune about 150 reads which is what my 3TB Seagate does! Probably because it is too full so I just need a 128GB since I do not plan to add much stuff to it anyway.
I am trying to go as close to $100 as possible but want as much performance as possible too.

I looked at:
Samsung 830
Samsung 840 Pro
SanDisk Extreme (looks like not one on the reliability list)
OCZ Vortex 4

Right now, my main choices are Samsung 830 because of price and proven track record. The 840 Pro because of superb performance and SanDisk because of low price.
I am buying from Amazon as I get free 2nd day shipping.
So just need some comments to make the call today so i can get it for my weekend.
Regards!

I dont see any deals going on so maybe I will keep an eye until one goes on sale.

I'd add the Vector to that list. From what I've read it offers better consistent performance than the 840 Pro. It's a little slower with max reads but faster with max writes. It's also on sale today so you might want to jump on it ASAP.

If you're looking for the best value and you're not doing a ton of writes the 840 really can't be beat.

Well with my 64GB one I tried as much as possible to only keep the OS and some smaller apps but after several years some of my programs that add data there started filling it up so that I have about 9GB left.
So I am not sure if I can really consider myself someone that writes a lot but I guess it would be nice for some programs like video editing or photo editing if they needed to create large cache files to do it in the fastest drive...as long as it does not mean losing the drive too early lol
That Vector caught my eye for sure but while I used to love OCZ their rep is really on the bad side now so I am a bit hesitant to do it.

Then you are in the same boat as I... I had a 64GB Agility3... a fine drive but just too small... and I had to babysit it to make sure it didn't malfunction. With the 840Pro I have no worries. I would have gone with the Plextor M5P... but the 840P came up on sale first.

For the money, you can get an OCZ drive... or something better... and have peace of mind.

My only concern with the OCZ is the reports of people that after a shutdown (non restart) the drive wont boot again.

There may be something to that. I never slept or hibernated my OCZ drive because of that.

Since I am usually testing new Overclocking settings I am afraid on any of those times when the computer freezes and you need to power down, I may not be able to boot back. I am tempted but my GSkill has no such issue...

I see the 840 no pro just under $100 vs $140...is it really that real life different worth the $40 or is it more of a benching thing, specially in my case?
