need 3 button mouse with separate scroll wheel

i have 3 button mice with no scroll wheel, and 3 button mice
with the middle button being a scroll wheel.

the problem is, if you use a program that uses the mouse
buttons with an alt key (middle-alt is 'rotate', etc.), it's real
easy to have just rotated, and because your finger is on the
middle button, when you lift the alt key it goes into the "change
zoom" mode.

so it would be better to have the wheel and the button separate,
one to control the zoom and other things, one to use with the
alt key.

looking at the mice i have - they're all 3 button; the one's that
have the scroll wheel, have it in the middle.

no need.
you can set any button as "middle button" on logitech mice
buy a logitech mouse with more than 3 buttons and you are set.
i use one of the thumb buttons on my mx1000 as a middle button..because clicking wheels is just not worth it. you can also set buttons to keystrokes.

that's the URL for a MX1000 at Newegg. i guess the trick is having a mouse
with an extra button and re-assigning them the way you want.
