Dont' think you can. Make a Win98 boot disk and boot it from there.

No can do. Win 2K (like NT) is not actually built on ye olde DOS, unlike Win 9X. Win ME is doing a bad step away.

You will have to use a Win9X machine to make a boot-disk. OR - another option (though it won't load stuff like HIMEM.SYS) is "booting" with your OS-install CD and then quitting it.

But a 9X based boot-disk is the easiest way really. Hmmm - doesn't your mobo manufacturer have a RAWRITE file or so with a bootable OS-image contained? :(

In windows98, put in a floppy. Open up a dos prompt, and type:

format a: /s

that will give you an abolutely clean boot floppy. then you put whatever BIOS flashing tools and the new BIOS on the floppy.

Most of the stuff at Bootdisk is considered piracy if you don't have the OS though (most of us do have liscenses for Win9x or DOS, but some of the Win2k only newcomers may not). For a free/legal alternative you can also try DR-DOS (www.opendos.org) or FreeDOS(www.freedos.org). You might even keep a copy on a small partition for this purpose (a 30mb partition should/would work).

Win98 boot disk it is then. I'll just make one off of a friends computer. Thanks for all the responses, I really only expected one or two people to respond to this one. Thanks everyone. :)
