Buddy gave me (!) some huge Newform Research speakers. But I need an (active?) crossover that feeds into a pair of stereo amps. Where do I find a small crossover to do the job? Just something decent.

And even if your aim is to bi-amp an external crossover usually isn't required....

These have tall ribbons. I was told it is required? I'd hate to damage the ribbons.
You'd need crossovers only if they don't already have crossovers included. I'd suggest checking in with the manufacturer just in case.

If they've been modified after the fact, well, you're in for a bunch of self-study.

Yeah my friend is brilliant so I trust what he said. Source to active 24dB/oct crossover to bi-amp. It's a slow project ... one day I'll get it assembled, haha.

I finally got around to completing the setup [almost 2 years to the day!] I got that Behringer CX2310 crossover, and it works great, thanks! The other key piece was a $20 dac, otherwise nasty video card noise was bleeding into the audio equipment, even with cheater plugs.

He removed the crossover for the woofers, but left it for the ribbons. Not sure what drove this decision.

I had to immediate upgrade to the 3-way crossover (CX3400) to integrate a subwoofer properly. Oh man, that 15" HSU VTF-3 MK5 HP shakes my house, lol.
