Need 14 inch Laptop with good graphics card

I'm looking for an all black 14 inch laptop that has a video card other than an on board one. Something like an nvidia chipset or ati, I can find tons of 15 inch ones and 13 inch ones but no 14 inch ones. Anyone have any ideas?

Ha I was just looking at that. And by the looks of it I'm looking at well over $1000 for that one. When does it come out?
 
why black? my notebook is black with glossy imprint finish anyway all i know is Apple Macbook Pro comes with 3 different color white grey and black...also Dell offers notebook with color on the cover. HP/Compaq notebook usually have designer imprint finish to wow them like me.
 
I'm not sure when it comes out, but to me its probably the most balanced notebook to be released. Its also fairly thin.

Do you have a link to specs on that model? I've been looking at this N81Vp-C1 at Newegg.

I'm also looking at the Sager NP2098, but its a 15in model.

I'd prefer to have a 13.3 or 14.1in laptop with a decent GPU in it myself, and its looking like ATI's upcoming 40nm mobile chips are going to offer the best performance.
 
E6400. Studio 14z if you don't need a CD drive. HP Pavillion dv4z also had a dedicated option.

No dedicated card, the 9400M is an IGP. Its a good IGP, but still onboard.

Umm wtf are you talking about? Almost all graphics chips are soldered onto laptop motherboards. They can all be classified as "onboard".

he probably meant it shares system memory as opposed to using dedicated memory

i looked at the Studio 14z on dell's website and they dont list dedicated memory for that laptop

I meant that the 9400M is part of the chipset southbridge. It is not a separate piece of silicon in the same way that a Radeon Mobility 3650 or Geforce 9600M would be. A large number of mobile graphics chips aren't soldered to the system board either, they use some form of MXM card. Upgrading them is possible, but you have to deal with power and thermal questions.

The card isn't as powerful as the one you listed, but apparently the U80V is, 1.24" at its thickest point, led backlit, keyboard backlit, track pad lit, ati 4570, 2.66 c2d, 4GB Ram, for $899.

IMO this would be a better buy than the dell 14z, but the U80V has not been released and the $899 price point is hard to believe.

BTW, the picture of the asus at the site I linked is not the U80V, its a different laptop in their U series. The U80V does not have a flushed screen.
 
Try Dell Latitude E6400. It's available through the small business channel. Dell Outlet often has great deals on those things - sometimes you'll find a C2D 2.93GHz, 14" LED backlighting with Nvidia Quadro for less than $1000.

I looked at, and then ruled out, models with the 4570. Its just not powerful enough to last, barely powerful enough for the current time. The 4650 boasts a full 320 stream processors, while the 4570 only sports 80, same as my desktop 4350 card.

Still, some of the upcoming Asus models look interesting, just need to see more of the 40nm GPUs.

I looked at the Dell E6400 but was unsure about the quadro card. Is that even useful on games? I thought that was more for stuff like photo shop or auto cad..And is the Dell a matte or glossy screen?

The Quadro NVS 160M is the business/professional equivalent of 9300M GS, so it might not be a very powerful card, but shouldn't be a problem for older games. Not Crysis material, I'd imagine.
