You could do it, but you won't get power until the computer is on. The 4-pin molex is probably your best bet, they tie directly to the motherboard 12V rail and has the thickest cabling as well as a very common connector. If you have extra molex cables you can take one of the connectors to make a harness that comes out of the box. Just make sure you have enough power headroom on the PSU to power the monitor.

Ha, i forgot that the purpose of adding the power to the monitor from the PC is to turn on and off the monitor at same time otherwise i had plenty of extra power supp that i could use .

That's a pretty small power supply. What is the input spec for your monitor?

Also, if you want to post a picture, imgur.com is fast and free... just upload and post the link here. imageshack, tinypic and other sites work too, but imgur is relatively painless to use.

You should be good to go. It doesn't seem like it's a demanding computer, so you should have enough overhead.

Oh wait, I read it wrong. I thought you meant the big plug as in 4-pin molex plugs.

You don't really want to splice into the motherboard plug as there's no clean way to do it well, unless you have extra pins and can recrimp.

Instead, get a Y-splitter like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Computer-Molex.../dp/B001PI9AAC

Split it off of something that doesn't draw much power, such as a fan. Then you can splice directly into the wire or splice into another cable to mate with the y-connector.

This lenovo doesn't have those types of connectors

check the black tip connector with many pin 4 wires go to the power sup that's what this pc uses for the dvd

Ah, SATA. Yeah it will work, it's essentially the same as the 4-pin molex. The one listed in the digikey is for getting power from 4-pin molex to power SATA. If you could find one that's reversed (takes one from SATA), you could use that as a basis for your harness.

Thanks Eureka,i already did the connection.
i chanted the yellow and black wires that connect to the DVD i did striped the wires and connected the wires that go to the monitor, then attached the wires and then used tape to insulate them and everything is running smoothly hope the power supply handles the 4 amp from the monitor and the DVD amp

you said you have an 100v 8va power supply, so im shocked it works at all.

what you likely have is a 8a @ 110v power supply, which is somehwere around a 500w supply or so. in that case, you would most likely be fine, depending on your computer setup.

Hi wirednuts,it's 110v 8a ac input but output is 12vdc at 18A

the monitor only has 38w power consumption,
