1/8" is pretty darn big. I had a gap close to 1/16". Braces fixed this, but I have a permanent wire behind my two front teeth to keep it fixed. Wire last broke in 2011 after 6-7 years, and my teeth started spreading apart very quickly. FYI, it's mad uncomfortable when they're sitting there trying to jam your teeth back together at the same time they're sticking a UV light up there to cure the glue.

I have a gap on my two front teeth too but I don't mind it so much. My mom told me that I can have it shaved off and then fitted with a cap that'll close the gap.
