those red neckbeards in the topic are groomed and look weird but aren't an insult.No kidding. I literally only heard of neckbeards in the last couple months, and I've seen a few references to it around the web. The fact that people have such a thing is amazing, but I'm still not sure what people mean when they use the term. It comes off as an insult, but I don't know exactly how. Other than having a silly beard, I don't know what a neckbeard says about someone.

The neckbeards you hear about are 20-30 years old nerds, often doing nerdy stuff (programming and card games or stuff like that).
The neckbeard these guys have is just stubble and looks really bad, you come off as someone who can't groom, they have it just because they don't shave.
