Yesterday me and my friends were goin to a pizza place for lunch. I was in the front passenger seat with one of my friends, and then my other friend behind us was driving 3 other people. It was rainy, and all of a sudden the two car infront of us stops quickly to make a left turn suddenly, we slow down and stop and then 2 seconds or so later BAM our friend slams into our rear. Were all friends here so we discuss it, we agree that he was going a legal speed but probably too fast for the rainy conditions. When he hit his brake, the obvious happened and he skidded. The car that i was in that was hit had some minor rear bumper damage, didn't look to bad (97 civic ex). The car that hit it (01 altima) had a bent hood, cracked headlight, grill and bumper were messed up pretty bad. No air bags deployed. We still ate our lunch after, and the altima was towed , other friend drove civic home. Now today i woke up and my neck is really sore.. Obviously you guys arnt doctors, but is it probably just temporary soreness for a day or could i have some damage (should i see a doctor or something?).

go to a doctor, get xrays. You dont want to screw up your neck... commonsense... If something aint right with your body, go see a doctor. This is why people have health insurance.

It'll get worse over the next few days. And will settle down in a week.

You'll probably have some lingering problems that won't go away. But there really isn't anything you can do.

My wife was ironically a passenger in an Altima that was hit by a Civic. Her neck was pretty sore for a solid week. But even two years later she still has some soreness that shows up from time to time.

They were traveling 45MPH and T-boned a car that made a left turn on red. The altima they were in was totaled, both airbags deployed.

When I was in a crash, I was sore for about three days, then it got better and now I don't have any problems. I guess it just depends on speed and angle. Generally, I'd say if it was a fender bender, you don't need to worry, but otherwie oyu migth want it checked out.

The worse type of accident as far as necks are concerned are when you are hit from the side or and angle and your head bounces in a direction that isn't forward or back.

Your neck is used to forward and back, but side to side isn't what it was designed to do. Those injuries tend to be much worse than your typical "hit from behind" whiplash types.
