NEC ND-2500A can't burn DVD

😕Having difficulty with my new NEC ND-2500A. NEC offers no support because it is an OEM drive. I can read fine with it, but can't get the PC to "see" a blank DVD-R. Tried using DVDcloner to write a DVD, no dice.

It acts like I need a DVD encoder, which I expected would be included in DVDcloner. Waiting for an answer from them on this question.

Any suggestions? Other settings I should watch for?

I have it as a slave on my IDE2 cable. Anyone had trouble with an ND-2500A as a slave?

first, i always like to run burners as masters, seem to work better that way.

second, their site should have a list of compatable media, check and make sure the disk you used it compatable.

Like kristopher said, check the drivers or any updates at their website. i had that problem once with my cd-burner when i switched to winxp. i solved the problem but updating the driver.

😕I have the thing on the same cable with my CD-RW. I will swap them and switch the jumpers to make the DVD the master and the CD the slave. I may even remove the CD, since the ND-2500A will also do CD-RW.
NEC is pretty crappy with support on this drive.:| The ND-2500A is an OEM drive, and they offer no drivers or firmware updates for it. All they had was a media list and a spec sheet.
I will try Roxio Easy DVD Creator 6 for the DVD encoder. I know Nero is better, but I can get Roxio for $11 from newegg.com, and I am not made of money.
I will let you know how it works out.
