NEC/Mitsubishi DP930SB MIA?

I'm curious. I've been eyeing the 930SB for a while now. Now that I'm actually ready and willing to put down good money for a great monitor, I can't find the thing! It's no longer even on Newegg's site at all (that I can see). Mwave has it listed for $702, same with Buy.com. Other sites either don't carry it or it's out of stock.

Does anyone know what's going on with this thing? Is it being discontinued or something? Is there somewhere where you can still buy it without having to wait for weeks? Right now the only site I see with it in stock (I haven't looked a TON yet) is Amazon, which has a good price and free shipping, but it'll be a couple weeks before it's shipped it sounds like. What do you think?

Thanks for the info. I wonder if it would be wise to pursue a monitor being discontinued..... 😉 Maybe I'd be better off looking for an alternative.

From the comments that the NEC rep made, it sounded as if they were discontinuing all CRTs unfortunately. If you are looking for a mid range CRT, I'd grab the 930SB ASAP.

If you want to stay with CRTs for a few more years, and if you can still find a new 930SB, I'd say to get it while you still can. I was fortunate to just happen to have replaced my 7 year old, failing Sony CRT with a 930SB a few months back (shortly before the latter monitors began to disappear), and I absolutely love it. Now I just hope that when it gets old, some years down the road, something equally as good and not obscenely high-priced will have become available to replace it.

going with one from NEC's refurb site isn't a bad idea. got a good warranty with options for extending it. plus an extra $20 off that almost covers all shipping. so $200 gets you a reconditioned 930.
