Hi all, I got my NEC 2690 two weeks ago with Spectraview II software and the ione display 2. I'm using one of the preset target "photo editing" which has a target intensity of 140 cd/m2. I 'm having problem getting intensity higher than 80-90 cd/m2. After each calibration, I got an error message saying "the target intensity could not be achieve". I have tried to reset the monitor to default, change the DVI cables, use a laptop with XP installed. However, I'm still can't get pass 80-90 cd/m2. The following is a screen shot on the calibrated result.

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi Yatlee,

I have a different problem happening.. but let me see if I can offer a bit of help. First of all, make sure that the hardware detection process is taking place. You can tell by the fact that if you are asked to set any brightness or contrast settings prior to calibration, then your software is doing the setting automatically as it suppose to. When SpectraView is running and you begin calibration, it communicates with your NEC and places it in 'Program' mode. Following, instrumentation takes over and sets brightness and contrast for you, instead of you doing it manually.

If this is what's is happening, ensure that your cables are inserted into their proper location; such as the primary port of your video card and the DVD-D 'D for digital' of the display. Remember, if you are asked to set any brightness, it's not working right.

Next, if you get past this step. A dialogue box appears asking you to preselect parameters for you calibration. Most people would agree that a Gamma of 2.2, a color temp of 6500K and a Luminance of 140 is the norm. I personally like a low luminance as it simulates a lower brightness similar to the media I print on. It makes no sense to set a high luminance if your paper brightness cannot reproduce it.

Last of all, the process should take about 15 minutes to cycle through all the circular patches on the screen. Man I hope this helps you...

Hi Again Yatlee,

I looked at your screenshot. Am I right to assume that you have a second monitor hooked up? This can cause your Average Delta to sky rocket. The Average Delta should be under one. If so, power down your CPU, remove the second monitor, start up and recalibrate. This fixed that problem for me. Once you are done calibrating, you can power down, reco monitor and voila! Also you may want to go into pref and select a 52-step calibration for added precision.
