Hi

I nearly decided to getthe NEC LCD1765 due to its stunning picture and sharp text display. However as several members here pointed out, the glare off of the plastic shield can be bothersome. Furthermore this monitor does not have a DVI input.

So I have narrowed the choice to NEC LCD1760NX and Hitachi CLM175. To any of you who have seen both of these monitors and perhaps used them, to which one you give the nod?

Furthermore are the panels in these two monitors made by the same manufacturer?

Thanks very much in advance.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. No, I meant the 175 as there is a 175 as well as a 174. I assume there is no significant difference between the two.

Take care

judging by the photos a looked up,they are the same model for the most part. if this is true, they use the same LCD and the Hitachi is merely harder to find. go with whatevers cheaper or easier to get.

i personally use the 1760NX, love them.

They don't use the same panel. If i'm correct, the NEC is based off the same AUO panel as the Hitachi 174 series.

The 175SXWB has the Hyundai/Hynix 20ms true 16million color panel.

I just got mine from MonitorsDirect.com, and they were on sale for $399 w/ free shipping, but that seems to be over. They do have a great 30 day no questions asked return policy.

Find it here - $419 w/ free shipping

I'm really happy with mine, but I don't think you can go wrong either way.

ok, misread the original post. If he wants the 175SXWB, yes, its the same AU Optics 16ms panel. If he wants the 175SXW2B, then he gets a nice 20ms Hynix panel :)

Either way, the Hitachi is cheaper, and I highly suggest MonitorsDirect, I'm sure you figured that out though ;)

I have the 1760NX and looked at the Hitachi as well. One thing I didn't like about the Hitachi was the inability to easily switch between inputs. I use my panel as a dual input with two PCs. To switch between them, it's a one button opertation. The Hitachi required going through the OSD menu to do it (a real pain). I switch between inputs MANY times in a day, so that was a big thing for me. If you aren't using it that way, not a big deal.

Is MonitorsDirect a reputable store?
They even list their resellerratings on their page, but I'm a bit skeptical since they seem to have a perfect score.
How is their policy regarding dead pixels?

I haven't found anything bad about them yet. I looked around the net for info on them too, and they seem legit.

As far as dead pixels, you don't like your monitor, send it back. You could just think the monitor looked at you funny, they don't care. You only have to pay the return shipping. Its great because its as good as Dell's return policy, but Dell's small business center charges a 15% restocking fee if you want a refund.
