okay apparently there's this "extra" $30 coupon floating around right now for staples, and we might as well use it while we can, so here's the deal.

go here for the link to staples

and here for the nec rebate (expires on the 31st)

$449.98
-40 off 200 coupon
-30 off 130 coupon
-50 rebate
______
$329.98 + tax

pretty sweet for a great looking monitor!

There is a Staples coupon out there that's $$$ off but not listed as such, so it does stack with the other coupons right now.

Help! would you guys rather buy the Viewsonic GS790 for $335.49 plus tax or this NEC one.

Between Viewsonic and NEC, DEFINITELY go with NEC. I have the FP950 (one step up), and it's an excellent monitor. It's also my fourth NEC monitor so I have some history with them, and they have always been consistent in quality.

vex, check the link in the 700IFT monitor thread.

I just got Nokia 447ZiPlus, btw, for $226 using the same set of coupons. That's an incredible price for an incredible monitor. I have a 447XiPlus now and it's unquestionably the best monitor I've owned.

The Diamondtron tube is really nice, but beware that the FE950's get the "B" grade tubes. I have an FP950 (NEC's best 19") and an FE950, and there is quite a big difference considering that they both use the same tube.

Of course, this is an excellent price on the FE considering that the FP costs > $500.

Anyone else have problems running a Trinitron monitor on a GeForce card? My Elsa Gladiac GTS has horrible 2d ghosting on my 19" KDS Trinitron. Seems to be pretty prevalent.

Oh yeah, and most of the time you can stack coupons so long as after the first coupon the total is still enough to qualify for the second, third, so on. Just keep calling!

I read a post in another thread that said the rebate for this monitor is good for purchases "at select retail stores" So does that mean the rebate is no good when ordering from Staples online?

Called NEC and asked if they will accept staples online for the rebate, was told no, rebate is only good for store purchase.

I purchased this monitor at Xmas and still have the original pdf of the rebate and the only thing it states is that Microcenter customers aren't eligible for the free USB hub. The rebate should be good through Staples online? Hope that helps you all out. If you need a copy of the rebate just go to NEC's website.
