NEC 8x Dual Layer DVD Burner down to $79.99

it can do dual layer right now....just no media available currently

the 2500A is the one that might be able to do dual layer with a firmware hack from the 2510A, but not guaranteed to work

so think of the 2510A as the 2500A plus $20 more for the dual layer capability....not a bad deal to me

I've been holding off on a DVD burner. Is now the time to jump?

2.4x on DL- how soon will faster DL drivers arrive?

Mine came in this afternoon. Time to start playing with it. (Don't think I'll do any dl burning right away -- can't afford those dl discs at today's prices.)

My local BB has a dual layer drive for $199 and I saw a media pack with 1 DL disc and 9 other assorted CD-R, DVD-R, etc discs. I didn't see any stand-alone dual layer discs.

I've been holding off on a DVDROM!

I had to borrow a drive to install my copy of UT2k4 special edition.

At this point I might as well wait for DL media to actually become available before I buy a drive.

If the blanks cost more than $3-$4 it won't be worth it for me anyways.

The "SW" includes software ("W/ Roxio Software").

I got an NEC 4X quite a while back, and paid the extra $5 for the Roxio software. Worthless POS IMO. Fortunately I had already purchased a Nero 5.x license years ago, and have been using that instead.

DL media is available. Hard to find and very expensive, but available. However I didn't get the dl drive so I could jump into dl burning. I needed a new DVD burner (my old one, a Sony, just up and died), and I figured a dl burner would be a bit more future-proof than an non-dl burner. So far the 2510a is working out great.

Where is DL media avalible? post some links. :clock:

Saw it at my local BestBuy. It comes in a pack bundled with other media. As I said in my post, I'm not interested in dl burning at the present time, so I didn't pick any up (plus it's bundled with other media I don't want).
