From what I see on Newegg and ZZF, this drive is just an OEM bare drive, which comes with no software or driver disc, right? SO will it work with just plain Win xp? I went on the manufacturer's site but I don't see any link on there for downloading any drivers. So does it not need any or what?

You don't need drivers to install a DVDRW on XP.

You may want to check for a new firmware revision though.

You don't need drivers but you will need burning software and/or DVD movie playing software. What comes in XP is of fairly limited flexibility. You can get OEM versions of Nero or Roxio burning/authoring software around the web for a low price. Or you can get the retail version often with a good rebate offer. Or you can get the e-distribution version for $60. for new uers - maybe less for users of previous versions.

Thanks Zepper, I'll look into it. I think an OEM version of Nero might suit me well. I've used an evaluation version of Nero once before and I liked it.
