depends on if you want to risk the rebate not coming or not. newegg has good price sans rebate. on the other hand the AR price is real good WITH 50 free discs to boot (worth 15-20 bucks)

I'd like to jump on this but the price of DL discs is still way too high, by the time the price of discs comes down the write speeds will probably be faster as well ;)

You forgot to mention that the DVD-Rs are on back order and they claim they'll get them tomorrow but they are located in Ohio so it's a big risk.
And the 50 "free" DVD-Rs are free After rebate. Considering the rebate has to be postmarked by Jan 15, it's a risk :)

Thanks for posting this deal for us, but it's only like $1 off their regular price :D That said, compared to most retailers newegg's prices can usually be considered hot deals.

Newegg has a Sony 16X DW-D22A-B2 BLACK for $66. Anyone know if that one is as good as the NEC? Sony used to have good drives.

The Sony drive is made by Lite-On and while it is a good drive, the NEC is one of the best.

Thanks OP...I'm in.

GreggyD - use DVD Shrink (to backup retail movies) and use Nero Burning ROM to burn...best combo.

Read the review above, or just skip to the end and read the summary, basically they hand it to the ND-3500A hands down and it coincidentally has the cheapest price.

There's also the ND-3520A was just announced, basically just faster dvd-rw, probably not a big deal. I picked up the ND-3500A a few weeks ago and have been using it with Patchburn 3 for OS X & Toast Titanium with pleasing results, have been having a few weird issues, but probably due to the "hacked" drivers.

I bit too so that the bezel would match the new computer I am building. Just about every part came off of tips from this forum. Thanks everyone.
