Toro now makes a mower specifically for the OP's needs. It is called the Toro Timemaster.

http://www.toro.com/en-us/Homeowner/Mowers/Walk-Power-Mowers/Pages/Series.aspx?sid=Timemaster

It is the "Personal Pace" like the one above, but it is a 30" deck. With a 30" deck, you would cut 40" more per swipe over a 21" deck. Not a bad time savings.

Check out the vid.

At first, you think its a normal home walk-behind mower. But at 0:13 in the vid, you are like "Whoa....thats a wide mower!!"

Not cheap, about $999 at Home Depot.

Nice find. Too bad it's three times the price of my regular Toro Personal Pace.

Unfortunately a shed is out of the question. I'm also thinking that $1000 is my budget.

The Toro Timemaster is intriguimg but I like the idea of the 36" commercial walk behind. Maybe at the end of this season I can pick up a decent used one.

OP if you have no room for a rider, you have no room for any of the alternatives.

If you have the property build a proper garage/workshop.

Without how big your yard is/how much time you want to spend; we have no clue.

I don't know the exact acreage but it takes 1-2 hours depending on the thickness/length of the grass to mow with my 22 inch walk behind.

I have a 6x10 alcove in my garage... technically a rider would fit but I've got a table saw, drill, and shelfing that occupy about half that space. I think a 36" would fit just fine. Its the width that I'm running short on. Length is really not the issue.

LOL, a used commercial mower in decent shape is going to run you $3k+.

Something like this would work or perhaps a used commercial mower. But I think I'm going to suffer through my push mower one more season and try to catch some deals in the fall.

Bought the same exact mower at an auction for $250. The looks of that Snapper hasn't changed for years and years...well, unless you count the change from the bicycle handlebar steerer to the rectangular wheel steering wheel. Otherwise, those riders seem to last forever.

Buying used commercial equipment is filled with land mines. You either are buying someone's equipment that is so worn out that it isn't worth fixing anymore or you're buying from people getting out of the business. The chance of you finding the latter here in the spring is next to nothing. In November you still will have to wade through a large pile of junk to find something at a good price, but at least you'd know there might be deals out there.

Second, a commercial walk behind is going to have about the same footprint as a rider unless you have some workbench you can park the front half under.

I got a Toro ZTR for $2000 new from HD after a 20% off coupon (they gave them out to HD employees for Christmas a few years ago, ebay is a wonderful thing).

QFT, find a mower at your lawn center that was repaired and the owner never paid.
