NE1 notice the Athlon XP 2100+ ads on AT for $299??

I'll take two of them, and toss in a dozen eggs to cook on it please. 😀

Faster than a 2000XP? Good stuff. 🙂

I wonder if it's a Thoroughbred? If not the vcore might have increased.

Probably be about £299 each for we Brits, oh well I`m waiting for the hammer 🙂.

<< That is a great CPU, but the price seems a tad too high...

<< oh well I`m waiting for the hammer . >>

I think all of us are waiting for the hammer to fall. I've already started accumulating the funds to grab the monster. I hope it will have some kind of on-die thermal protection. But even if not, I'll take my chances 😀.

According to XBitLabs, an AMD official is quoted as saying that all ClawHammer processors will have an HIS metal lid improving the heat dissipation from the processor die and protecting it against mechanical damages.

ClawHammer will be my next major upgrade after a Tbred/Barton or NW setup.

Yes, the 2100+ is a 1.73GHz AthlonXP on the .18u Palomino core. It is scheduled for release within 3 weeks. This will be the final member of the Palomino core (.18u) family.

The first Thoroughbred is likely to be a 2200+ (1.8GHz) on the .13u core. I am told it will not feature 512K L2, nor will there be any changes from Palomino. Some have said that AMD has quoted "a couple insignificant" changes, but I've not been able to confirm that.

<< Is this thing still .18 micron?? AMD is REALLY milking this core >>

seriously they can get it up to this high and P4 @ .18 micron could only go up to 2 Ghz that it might impressive

i doubt it will scale much higher on a .13 process maybe SOI is AMD's answer

a tulatin wont even hit 2 Ghz on .13

i have a 1700+ xp now and will most likely migrate to a northwood until hammer time
