I used to have a Logitech Formula Force, but I found it's force-feedback effects to be more gimmic than actually emmersing me into the game (and the loud clunky noises it made got on my nerves). So I sold it after 3 months. 1 year later I find a UPS box at my door with a refurb Logitech Formula GP wheel (non-FF) that I got from Overstock.com for $17.95 shipped. I'm not gonna be able to test it out until I get back to my computer on Sunday, but it feels pretty good in my hands (although my hands may be a bit to big for it) and the wheel moves smoothly. Can't wait to test it out in Need for Speed: PU :D

So who else has a wheel, and what game do you use it in?

I have the one you didn't like. :)

NFS PU and Sports Car GT is what I play most with it, but I occassionally play Viper Racing too.

I am a master of joysticks.. I got so many..

I have the thrustmaster wheel and pedals from 1999
I have the thrustmaster joystick for flying
I have the MS Sidewinder Precsion Pro
I have the MS Sidewinder Game pad

I dont use any of these since i dont play games these days.. but some day I will get around to using them again.

BTW: I have a joystick switch for the gameport.. works great since I can keep all of them connected at once.

Is that usb or gameport?, NFS/PU is one of my favorites and the gamepad just don't cut it for me, thinking about getting one of those for myself from OS.

I use a TSW2 Cup from Thomas Superwheel Best wheels without a doubt :) I use to own the Logitech Wingman Formula Force and it was good wheel for the 2 years i had it, but nothin compares to a TSW IMO. I used the FF on my Logitech for a short time when Nascar4 first came out but found it to be annoying. FF always made me over compensate for minor loses of car control, no matter how weak the FF forces were set to. I eventually just turned it off and used the centering spring, much more stable. TSW has no FF, More car control and it's much smoother.

I thought it was going to be USB, but when it got here it ended up only having a gameport connection...oh well :(

Act Labs Force RS

Nascar Racing 4
Nascar Heat (Cart/IRL Heat mods too)
F1 2001
Sports Car GT
NFS: PU
Dirt Track Racing
Colin McRae Rally 2 (only occasionally)

Umm... that's all I can remember right now... I hope that's it, otherwise I might have to say I have too much free to to spend on racing games.

hmmm, the only thing I use my gamepad is for racing sims anyway, I think I'll get one anyway, the price is right. If it sucks bad, looks like the son gets a new wheel!

Thanks..

Well, got the wheel hooked up, played a bit of NFS: PU and ended up about 20 seconds slower per lap than what I was getting with my Xterminator. This was even after trying to learing to use the wheel again (I did have a formula force).

I recently bought a Saitek R4 FF wheel that has been long off market. I didn't get a chance to try it with NFS:HP (rules!), but according to all the reviews it's supposed to be the best for NFS. It's so old that it still uses the gaming port, but it has a 270 degree turning capability.:D

I play Nascar 4 with an old Thrustmaster Nascar Sprint wheel.

Didn't work for NFS games, but works nicely with Nascar. :)

Well, I was actually faster than the Gravix Xterminator gamepad when I had the Logitech Formula Force. The wheel had a "meatier" feel and the base didn't move around as much. Also, the flipper paddles on the "Force" are much better than the buttons behind the wheel on this one...

I've wanted to try this wheel with this shifter and this clutch/brake/accelerator pedal combo

The only thing holding me back is I play F1 racing sims like F1 Racing Championship, and the shifter, although compatible with Ferrari's 7 gear F1 tranny would slow me down by about .4-.7 seconds a lap just from gear changing (couldn't change gears as fast through curves in addition to the slowness of a gated shifter over a finger shifter). Currently I'm using a Logitech Formula Force GP with the finger-shifters and they're practically a necessity for F1 sims.

A steering wheel is a must for any F1 or WRC sims IMHO. F1RC is undriveable with anything but a wheel and I'd suspect the same would hold true for Colin McRae 2 although I've only played that with a wheel.

The force feedback in F1RC is great in my opinion...I can feel the curbs, the slipstream, the road, and accidents;) But I've heard my Logitech FF GP isn't as good as the previous generation logitech wheel.
