Rosewill R905E-W Silver-Black 19" 8ms Widescreen Wide LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 500:1 0.285mm Pixel Pitch - Retail

For those of you looking for a W-i-d-e screen LCD, this may not be a 1400x1024 but then, it doesnt cost $350-$500, either.

Rosewill 19"
Not bad, imho

I have several DVI and Analog and unless they are side-by-side, I can not see any difference.
But, correct sinse, No DVI.

no portrait mode, unfortunately, otherwise it would be very nice for typing long documents (split screens, footnotes, etc)

Even at its original price of $269 it seems awfully cheap - what the catch?

This is apparently a pretty inexpensive panel to produce. If you look around even the more known brands (Viewsonic for instance) sell theirs for about $299. A bunch of "off" brands are selling them for $249. Plenty of places with nice return policies are selling versions of them, so you should be able to pretty easily try one out and if you don't like it return it no problem. I know Wal-Mart and Costco both do, and places like Staples and Office Depot do as well.

Just look at Newegg. Viewsonic, Acer, and several other brands have versions for less than $300 shipped. Some of them have DVI, others only VGA.

Looks like the Samsung one might be using a different higher quality panel. It lists 16.7 million colors while the others either just say 16M or 16.2. Also the Samsung has a built-in TV tuner.

As for DVI/VGA. It depends on the monitor. It used to make a huge difference, but its not too bad (a lot of people say there's not even a noticable difference to them) anymore.

I'd rather pay a little more ($40) for a Hyundai L90D with DVI. All the Rosewill stuffs that I've come across are below par in price and performance.

Sadly, Hyundai has discontinued that model. 🙁
