I've got friends of friends who work at this company. I've never heard anything good about working there. This news story doesn't surprise me at all.

geez thats oppressive, glad they changed! I read this on hot deals and emailed them today - oh well too late! Who cares if someone puts up an American flag or a palestinian flag, its free speech and I don't see how they can get away with bleaching people like that. Sure its one thing to preach in the office but to not be able to put a cross on your desk or something? Is that right?

At my work the management went around & Bought little flags to be hung everywhere.... If they tried to tell anyone to take there flag down than there would be some hell to pay...

On a side note about the flag causing segregation I Saw a Muslim (I Believe since the woman was wearing that full head covering thing) get out of a car that had an american flah on it's antenna... I Dont for a second think they liked the attacks & I Think they are proud to be in america...

They were getting reamed in the press and even on the radio stations this morning. One of the radio stations gave the telephone number of the company out.

<< Yeah, it is a sad commentary on the PC movement. There should be a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT granting of the right to display the US flag (in a reasonable fashion) anywhere. Period. >>

We shouldn't even need an Amendment.
That should be the default.

Just another rant on the state of some peoples lack of Pride in the USA here on AT forums by a few members.

Jolly

<< I don't have an opinion on this matter. This was probably done to diffuse the tensions being high amogst the peoples. After all, a flag can unite but can also create segregation. >>

How can you not be on either side especially after last week?

Static911

<< my father owns a company; you would be amazed what, how and WHY ppl can sue a company. >>

you can add infringing on peoples 1st amendment rights to that list. What a distastefull and UnAmerican View.

Goldenbear

<< What good will boycotting do? Why hurt the business of an entire company for the doings of a few people in managment? >>

Well ask Jesse Jackson He makes a living threating boycotts of companies. Just ask Toyota that paid him off 6 million dollars to shaddup. Threatening a boycott, hell I'd never even deal with a company like that on any level.
here is your answer in a post by Clinotus

<< A question I have is whether people would be offended if someone held a communist or nazi flag over their office space. Or, more prevalent to the situation, a picture of bin Laden surrounded by candles. >>

Were you sleeping last Tuesday? What country do we live in? Sure they have the right to do so but if some idiot puts up a Bin laden poster with candles in their cubicle I hope he has good life insurance.

Lastly the court of public opinion has proven you both wrong and I'd say UnAmerican as well (yes you have that right though i'll give you that. Why? CAUSE YOU LIVE IN THE USA start acting like it)

I think that if you're living in this country you should be willing to put up with people flying the country's flag. Its pretty frigging ridiculous that people are not allowed to have their own flag in their own country.

I'd think even if I was a foreign national, if I came to America looking for the "American Dream" not only would I not criticize American's for having a US flag, but I would hoist the US flag alongside my own. This was probably a PC management decision that was not made with the input of any of the other employees in the trenches.

I totally agree with Mr. Schrempf...the employees don't really 'own' their workspace so long-established guidelines should be enforced. Its fine to leave the flags on their cars...that's what most people are doing around here. Ours are on the mailbox and front door flagpost.

Face it--the flag has lots of enemies. Aren't we allowed to burn the thing too? I used to hate the American flag before I moved here--no offense but back then I was just another Canadian sick of all the 'we need to get Saddam!' rhetoric.

As a True Americian I disagree with you.
On a day of national mourning and prayer a company that is in the USA that takes away employee's flags should be booted right out of the Country ASAP IMHO.
