On the sex offender registry for . . . ?

On the one hand, I am truly amazed at the acceptance the left exhibits for rape and pedophilia, as long as it's the "correct" people doing the raping and the molesting. But on the other hand, it's entirely possible that the leader of the Charlotte LGBT Chapter is on the sex offender registry for being a man dressed as a woman entering the women's restroom. Wouldn't want to make a decision about the "ew" factor without knowing that, as plenty of people land on that registry for pretty mild reasons. (Which is yet another good reason why sobriety is your friend.)

He was on the registry for molesting young boys. Many will say that doesn't count as he is a he and his victim are boys... However, it speaks to the lack of integrity in regard to the group that was pushing for the ordinance in Charlotte. *** DIsclaimer... I live in Charlotte.

A fair point has been raised. How do we protect our sons from pedophiles that enter the MEN'S bathroom? Think about it. Our sons have been unprotected all these years. Oh my god, the horror, the horror....

The point is that in that specific case - The ordinance passed in Charlotte... The leader who helped push it through lacked a certain amount of integrity.

Bottom line... We don't need an ordinance to allow trans people to use the bathroom of their choosing. They've always had that choice. We also don't need laws to force them to use what their biological equipment indicates they should use.

It's all a fucking parade for political points on both sides. Pretty sure at the end of the day, the exposure for the LBGT crowd will be considered a net plus.

Valid concerns but how does having other problems absolve us from taking appropriate action to alleviate other problems?

What other problems are we talking about?

Is is transgenders assaulting women/girls/boys inappropriately in public restrooms? Seems this is the focus of the debate, unfortunately considering what else is included in the bill.

So, if this bill "solves" or alleviates a problem, certainly you must have seen the statistics the NC Gov. used to bolster his position on passing/signing this bill into law...you know, the number of reported cases of molestation by transgenders upon women/girls/boys in public restrooms. I'm sure the figure was in the hundreds over the last decade to require such legislation being passed.

After all, there was a problem, right?

Wait.....I've never seen anyone provide those statistics. Wonder why? I would surmise the NC Governor has at his disposal the means to have all the police agencies under his control to tease out those figures from all their arrest/conviction records. So ever wonder why you haven't seen them trotted out for public consumption and outrage? Imagine the impact of being able to say "this bill prevents 100/10/1 attack(s) a month as was the case/statistic prior to the bill's passage."

But you haven't heard that once in this discussion. Not once. Ever wonder why?

And what's ironic is that this law that alleviates a problem (that doesn't exist) has thinking behind it that somehow fails to comprehend transgenders were already using public restrooms in NC (and the rest of the U.S.) and no one ever knew it. No one was inconvenienced, no one was molested, nada. Heck, instead you read time and time again most of the legislators and population in general had no idea who/what transgenders were before Jenner, much less the potential dire consequences of their bathroom choice, if left to the transgenders to decide.

Just think about that for a moment. Where was the hue and cry for this legislation, the growing ground swell of public sentiment for the bill prior to its passage in NC? I never saw any myself.

Just questions. Seems to me this law was looking for a problem to solve where there wasn't one. Remember, nothing was keeping creepy old men from dressing up as women and preying upon women in public restrooms before the law was enacted, and most certainly this law won't deter them....considering there are and have been laws already in place to deal with such issues.

Unfortunately this bill is a response to what the state considered a dangerous "right" for men to be in a bathroom of their choice. No verification, just use what feels right. Like I've said over and over trans people are just caught in the cross fire here. They aren't the concern.

So the problem was Charlotte passing a bill making it a "right" for men to be in women's bathrooms.

So, our solution is to harm a minority group when even the supporters of this law agrees that it has nothing to do with them? Why not find a different way of handling this. Can't we make molestation of children illegal? Why not make laws intended to punish criminal activity instead of outlawing innocent activity and just hoping that it will have a side effect of stopping criminals.

This feel like we are trying to outlawing convenience stores to stop robberies.

Thanks for the info. I personally consider a group to have zero credibility if their appointed leader molests little boys.

Might as well be Congressional Republicans . . .

Brilliantly said, buddy.

Also well said.

Why can't we have an adult party that sees a bad bill or ordinance such as was passed in Charlotte and simply makes it not abhorrent rather than overturning it with one that's equally bad in the other direction?

Honestly this is an issue that I utterly give 0% shit about. I am a little confused as to why it all of a sudden became an issue now. I am having a little bit of trouble identifying what exactly is being fought over. Is this a desperation move by politicians to distract us from issues that actually matter?

The alternative is to make it a right for men to be in any bathroom they choose. In other words, you can't ask a man to leave the ladies room as a store owner without infringing on his "right".

We already make child molestation illegal but that doesn't mean we make it a right for random men to roam the halls of schools.

"Random men" already roam the public bathrooms that our sons use, it's terrifying.

Why now? What are you talking about, it's election year. Need to stir up the Base (pay no attention to our horrible candidate, look how evil we can make the other side look...vote to defeat their evilness!).

Probably as much as anything else. It's a concentrated effort by the Dems since it's springing up in many places. That's political. It brings a concentrated response by the Pubbies which is equally political. If this were not an election year - especially one without an incumbent running - we'd probably never see either side's actions. Instead, trannies would have continued going into the bathrooms of their choice with no one being the wiser, or caring, as long as their appearances warranted that.

From what I've seen is this started to become an issue in 2014 when a California middle school was sued by a student because they were made to use the nurse's office bathroom instead of either male or female bathrooms.

After transitioning, the student returned to middle school hopeful that everything would go smoothly. Although he presented as male and had completed a court-ordered name change, the school district still required that he use the nurse’s office for restroom access and to change in and out of his gym clothes. This arrangement caused him to miss a significant amount of class time. Sometimes his peers would tease him for taking so long to travel the long distance to the nurse’s office and back. Eventually, he stopped going to the bathroom at all.

There are other stories sprinkled around. So, legislators started talking about revisiting the laws. Then we got kick back from the right. It is sad we even have to have laws about this in the first place, but obviously we do since schools are denying children the right to use the bathroom of their gender.

Children barely have an idea of gender. It's parents, that are exposing their ideas on gender neutral children that become an issue.

Special kids should be taken into the Psychological, and possibly criminal court.
