Private institutions can do whatever they want. Constitutional rights are not the same or comparable. Only someone with zero political understanding would be swayed by that cartoon. It preys on ignorance.

It's a law that you must open a bank account under your real name or business name. ID needed. It's a law that you must be 17 to watch an R rated movie. ID needed. It's a law that you must be 21 to drink. ID needed. It's a law that you must fly under your real name. ID needed. Ignorance is all on you.

Think you may want to check on this one........Moving ratings are set by a private org and I believe limiting access is an industry move and not one required by law.

There are laws regarding porn movies so the cartoon is still correct.

So quick question. Is it your claim that every person in America that is currently voting age has had to use government issued photo ID that would be suitable to the voter ID laws that have passed to have opened a bank account in the past? And do they need those IDs to be maintained as current and valid to continue to have a bank account? And every adult I survey will state they have to present ID every time they go to a movie or buy alcohol? Do they all fly?

It is NOT the law that one must present a drivers license or other state-issued photo ID in order to open a bank account. While that is certainly the most common option, it is not the legal mandate.

Further, as always, this is irrelevant for the majority of Americans who already had bank accounts when the PATRIOT [sic] Act was passed.

False. It is not a law at all, it is a voluntary system widely adopted by theaters. Moreover, even the theaters who follow that system are not required to demand state-issued photo IDs. It is perfect reasonable for them to use their own subjective and arbitrary criteria for deciding when to ask for IDs.

Your little porno deflection is cute, but it's irrelevant. Very few people watch porn in theaters. Further, once again, it is up to the establishment to decide if and when they'll ask for IDs.

It's a law that you must be 21 to drink. ID needed.
Once again, there is no law requiring alcohol sellers to demand a state-issued photo ID. As best I can remember, I've been carded twice in my entire life. Both were concerts where the promoter required 100% ID checks by its vendors. I've never been carded in a bar or a grocery store when buying alcohol. My experience is hardly uncommon.

It's a law that you must fly under your real name. ID needed.
Hey, you got one right (mostly). Care to guess what percent of the American public never flies commercially? If you are among the millions and millions who never fly, you don't require a state-issued photo ID. (By the way, you don't need the ID when flying as a passenger on private aircraft. It's only on commercial flights. We'll spot you that one and assume you were just imprecise.)

Ignorance is all on you.
Wrong on that one too. Still, one out of five is a step up for you. Good job.

Guess neither took the time to look at their voter card that's sent out every December for the next calendar year (1/1 - 12/31). There's no charge for getting the voter card changed, just go to their registrars office.

I just realized looking a my card that it's good for 2 years (1/1/2012 - 12/31/2013). Makes me wonder how these people voted in the 2012 Presidential election. Did they have to sign an affidavit then and still haven't corrected the issue?

What really needs to happen is all those absentee ballots that are sent to the military and others should be revoked. Anyone could be filling those out. If they want to vote they should have to show up, identify themselves and vote.

I can't work a job anywhere I want. Why should I be able to vote anywhere I want.

None of those activities require establishing primary residence. Except the bank account, which can't be opened with a photo id.

If you look into the requirements and procedures involved in registering and voting you'd realize that the photo id is superfluous to what's actually going to establish a legal voter.
