NC Intl Auto Show this weekend in Raleigh! Anyone have some general tips for photographing cars at a car show? This will be my first attempt... It will be indoors at the newly opened Raleigh Convention Center. I'm pretty excited, Rolls Royce and Maserati seem to be the only heavy hitters, but i'm crossing my fingers and hoping for an XF-R, 370Z, Drophead Coupe, and some assorted Porsches. I would be really stoked if BMW brought in some of their Advanced Diesel vehicles. Anyway, i don't have a DSLR, but my FZ28 has proven to be a very capable camera...as long as i can keep it 400iso and below. 🙂 this may be the wrong forum to ask, but i thought i could alert anyone who hadn't heard about the show.

I didn't know the auto show was next weekend, thanks for the heads up. I went last year and found shooting without the flash was pretty much a no-go (I also have a Panasonic FZ8). Play with your flash exposure levels, but I wouldn't expect any breath-taking shots given the relatively low light inside and lack of DSLR.

Im actually going to the one in Harrisburg tonight..ill let you know what i find. I have a Pentax K100D.

I was at the philly auto show this weekend. using a regular point and shoot (canon sd850 IS) and i got pretty weak shots. The flash isn't good enough for the low light environment. or maybe i just suck at taking photos. My photos came out really dark

I went to the one in San Jose a few weeks back. I couldn't find Mercedes there at all. Most of the cars were meh by BMW. They didn't even bring an M3. I took some photographs of the Veyron, RR Phantom and other vehicles. The GT-R was there and I finally got to check the Genesis out. The ZR1 attracted quite a few people and so did the Dodge Zeos. The Zeos is an all electric car with 24" wheels. Good design though I think with smaller wheels they could probably extend the range of the car since I'm sure it takes a lot to propel that thing. The range is 250miles on a full charge.
I can post the pics later but they're so so.

How's this other Raleigh show?

I didn't realize there were two diff expo's. The one Mermaidman linked is the one I went to, with shitty lighting and honestly not a great selection of cars. The int'l one might be worth a visit, and I'll already be downtown Saturday morning...

I'll be running the Krispy Kreme Challenge saturday morning, but i'll probably hit the show in the afternoon. Maybe i'll see you there. 🙂 I'll be the guy the cops are trying to pull out of the Drophead Coupe.
