Go over to Italy, Britian, russia or any other country and see which athletes they are focusing on. I'm willing to bet it's the athletes from their respective countries.

I'm guessing you're way too dumb to understand that.

Weren't you banned before?

Calling me dumb? Let me break it down for you.

Finals race, womens snowboard cross. First girl goes down early in the race, hard on her shoulder. We do not get ANY coverage of her the rest of the race, including after. Second girl flies through a fricken fence, and is briefly being shown taken away on a stretcher. No updates WHATSOEVER on the condition of this athlete. Second place American, of course good coverage on her. (Im not complaining about this part). First place, who won? We don't even freaking know who took first. Barely any coverage on her.

If anything we should have atleast had an update on the girl that was taken away on a fricken stretcher? Don't you think that qualifies on a big story?

I completely understand covering American athletes, but just because you cover Americans doesn't mean you have to completely neglect coverage of all other countries, including very big stories. (I think a potentially career ending injury *if not wosre* is deserving of an update).

Sampson, you are just a troll. Get off your freaking high horse and stop trying to insult everyone.

Of course I've been banned before, who hasn't? If you're implying that I was banned and came back under a different alias, no, you're wrong. My account magically disappeared on the new years eve 2006 cock up.

If the girl was hurt, how do you expect there to be an update before she's even off the slope? Do you expect the reporters to just walk up the slope and find out what's up with the girl before a doctor see's her? There will be an update, just be patient.
Do you remember the girl who went down REALLY HARD in the downhil skiing? No, probably not, because you didn't care at that point.

Reality is this, the nation in which the broadcast happens will cover it's athletes as much as possible. Is that hard to understand? I guarantee that in Switzerland they ignored everything BUT their athlete winning the gold medal in that event. The country will focus on their athletes, win or lose. If they win they will get even MORE coverage, that's how media works, regardless if you understand it or not.

Let me demonstrate how incredibly stupid your post is...

Say you're living in Switzerland, watching the olympics and posting on a predominantly swiss frequented BBS (I really hope you know what that means with out looking it up). You go on to that BBS and post "OMG THE -insert swiss broadcast station- COVERAGE OF THE OLYMPICS SUCKS, they only cover swiss stories and athletes, WTF GIVES MAN".
It would be even funnier if you were chinese and did the same thing, because you would have been escorted out of your house by the chinese army.

Sit back and think about it, I know it's hard, but just try it. The world is coming together to compete, and their media sources focus on their respective countries in the games. Simply astounding!

What?!! Is this the first time you watch an Olympic game coverage in America? Every freakin one has been like this. You better get used to it. And you should watch "world news" from your local channel, it's freakin hilarious, they think "world news" means news from other states. They need to learn their geography.

Fricken NBC's coverage of the olympics is the worst Ive ever freaking seen. Im a big fan of the olympic events, and almost all events I can handle being televised, despite the fact that some I like much more than others. B ut I don't mind watching curling/figure skating etc. as long as its good freaking coverage.

I just got done watching the Snowboards cross (womens) which is a VERY freakin awesome sport by the way. IN the finals two of the girls went down very hard early to mid race. One of them ended up being pulled off on a stretcher... sine hs'es not freaking american though, we don't know wtf happened to her. I mean wtf, they ONLY COVER AMERICAN STORIES, AND NOT EVEN THAT WELL!!!!!!!!!!! I want to know what happened to the girl that went flying through the fence!! Also, in the events Ive noticed the camera/commentary is largely focused on ONLY AMERICANS! A lot fo times in the snowboard cross or speed skating events two people may finish far ahead of the rest of the pack (because of wrecks etc..) and if an American isn't one ofthose freaking people fighting for 3rd place THEYH WON'T EVNE SHOW THE OTHER PEOPLE FINISHING THE RACE. They just freaking act like the race is over and we watch the American celebrate or whatever it is the hell they are doing! Now don't get me wrong, Im very patriotic, but I want' to see ALL the action, not just the Americans. WTF. They barely even mention who finishes in 3rd place. Its jlust like (oh yea canada got third) Even after the fact they don't go back and show replays or anything.

This is in my opinon the freaking WORST Olympic coverage I have EVER seen in my ENtire FREAKING LIFE! (Im only 20 though).

/rant

Question: Has NBC always (or atleast always recently) been the network that covers the olympics?
plus.... last night they pre-empted Earl and The Office for the olympics.
SUCKAGE!

Oh geez, where do I begin. Well first of all, Ive seen many olympic coverages that give a much broader range of coverage (while still focusing on Americans, but not completely ignoring other large stories).

Secondly, you making all of these assumptions shows your ignorance. How can you guarantee the Swiss completely ignored the American story/other stories. Unless you live in that country, which I hightly doubt. You are simply making assumptions of which you have no proof of. (Regardless of whether or not it is true).

Third of all, if you are going to call me stupid, you best know wtf you are talking about. They showed the snowboard cross event, then minutes later they had interviews with the American rider. Within 30 minutes of the event ending, they had that girl on to ask her questions (in a studio) about what had happened. This leads me to believe the event was not live. So they could have EASILY updated on the information they know about the injury. Whether it be, both riders who went down in the event are ok. Or X rider is currently undergoing evaluation at X hospital, or whatever. I think its ridiculous that there isn't atleast an update on the status of this person. If you think otherwise then I'm done arguing with you, as you are simply a lost cause.

From what Ive seen the other ones have not been like this. Maybe I did not notice it as much as I was younger.

In any case, the coverage in my opinion is not very good. I understand and completely agree with covering the country of which you are broadcasting to, but I just think its stupid to COMPLETELY ignore other big stories. I'm not asking for a 10 minute segment on another country. Or even a 2 minute segment. But fricken 15 seconds to update on what happened is far from unreasonable, IMO.

..I don't watch tv anymore. Got feed up wit it. I'll wait till a highlights dvd comes out and get that.

believe it or not.. they did teh same crap during the normal summer olympics..

NBC sucks.. and during the summer olympics, they only showed small snippets, of americans doing things.. nothign else.. and mind you it wasnt even live, you could see the results online before they showed it. In India, they usually show it live, regardless of what time it is..

NBC sucks!

I agree somewhat, but I think it has always been this way. The Olympics is a international event, therefore I would like international coverage.

There was no buildup by NBC for the olympics. I watched the opening show and might watch the final, but thats it. I think NBC's coverage of sports is bad. I'm a nascar fan and I hate it when NBC is broadcasting the races.

man, I remember when CBS did Nagano. That was horrendously worse than this.

At least NBC uses other channels to show the action, but ya, I agree w/ you. A more international coverage would be nice, but then again, they want ratings, so oh well.

NBC is doing a decent job. The Nagano games w/ CBS was horrid. worse coverage ever.

Talking about pro sports coverage, I think NBC does it the best. I really miss the NBC coverage of the NBA. ABC SUCKS @ nba coverage. They have crappy music, and the introductions before each game sucks. Before, it was ultra dramatic and awesome. The intro was awesome, followed by the NBA on NBC song.

also, winter olympics >>>>> summer olympics

why? because winter games = faster, higher, more extreme, FASTER, faster, faster, jumphigher, faster, faster and more faster than the summmer games.

Speed scating, downhill, snowboarding, bobsled, skeleton, luge..
All are exciting and awesome to watch, unlike swimming, running, etc. Well, the only event I find exciting in the summer games is the 100m Dash.

100m Dash is just awesome.

but then again, summer games tend to push the body's limit more (marathon, etc).

Totally agree with you, I was watching the women's snowboarding the other night, commercial came on, I flipped the channel and men's speedskating was on.
Yay.
I get to watch some old geezers in spandex. Tell me please that ratings are higher for women's snowboarding.
😕

HAHA.
No.
The UK has about 3 entrants in the Olympics, but they are showing lots of sports (including ones they have no entry in).
