NBC Rejects Ad From Conservative Group

I think a lot of the idiot neo-con supporters here are confusing opinion and political point of view with lies and dirty fucking bastards. The people who tried to air the video were from the latter description.

Do you want to see some liberal representative come onto the TV on NBC or Fox and declare that "Rudy wants to legalize the rape and murder of children"? No, you'd be cheering at the networks decision to ban that kind of video from their airways.

Get over yourself, you can't air lies and deceit on the airways as your political platform. God dammit.

NBC has now decided to air it.

NBC reversed course Saturday and decided to air a conservative group's television ad thanking U.S. troops.

The ad, by the group Freedom's Watch, asks viewers to remember the troops during the holiday season. NBC had refused to air the ad because it guides viewers to the Freedom's Watch Web site, which NBC said was too political.

But in a statement issued Saturday evening, NBC said:

"We have reviewed and changed our ad standards guidelines and made the decision that our policy will apply to content only and not to a referenced Web site. Based on these amended standards the Freedom's Watch ad will begin to run as early as Sunday."

NBC' head of standards and practices, Alan Wurtzel, notified Freedom's Watch's media consultant Saturday by e-mail, writing: "This will confirm that the Freedom's Watch spot is approved for air."

Freedom's Watch President Bradley A. Blakeman welcomed the decision. "We're actually very happy that NBC has agreed to change its position because it will only help the troops be properly thanked," he said.

 This is a group that wanted to place an ad to support the troops - I fail to see how that makes them "lies and dirty fucking bastards". NBC tried to use the website excuse but if that was the case then they couldn't air any candidate ads since they have controversial itmes on their websites too.

Oh, and it looks like they changed their minds since it was obvious they had no leg to stand on for refusing the ad. 😀

There is an air of implication behind it, and the people who MADE it are not respectable, nor are they supporting the troops. Lies. And. Deceit. But I honestly don't care if someone like yourself agrees or not.

Liberal Media at it again.

Pasted from the link:

"The spot was to be part of a seven-figure campaign that includes newspaper ads and television commercials. The ads are to run on CNN and Fox News Channel and are running in various newspapers. The New York Times ran a full-page Freedom's Watch ad Friday that said "Thank You!" and depicted a soldier reading a letter. The newspaper ad also contained the Web site address."

Which "liberal media" are you referring to?

Give me a break. You're talking about lies and deceit, and yet you're equating these adds to "some liberal representative come onto the TV on NBC or Fox and declare that 'Rudy wants to legalize the rape and murder of children""

They're running an ad asking people to support the troops, telling people to goto their site to find out more. Their site links to a dozen programs supporting the troops. How is this lying or being deceitful?

I wonder of the FCC can apply an Eminent Domain kind of policy to TV Networks.

Obviously NBC is a "blighted" property with un-american decision making in regards to political ads and should be handed over to Murdock immediately.
