Why does NBC only insist on showing America in their coverage of the Olympics? I know that America probably has the largest contingant in Sydney but other countries do exist.

NBC blotched the Olympics. As much as I want to see of the USA, they suck with giving us the coverage. Too much dramatization. Yelch. :disgust:

The olymics is about sports, not some poor guy who had cancer and the doctor used a chainsaw to remove the tumor, and then he went to the olympics and came in last. But he is a hero for making an ass out of himself.

SHOW SOME DAMN SPORTS!!! AND NOT THESE LITTLE 5 MINUTE BLURBS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY.

The times are shifted enough that what is going on in the morning/afternoon they could be showing LIVE during primtime. Everyone complained about ABC sucking, so thats why NBC got the coverages (plus the paid the most) and now NBC sucks it up worse than ABC.

I think the IOC should refund NBC and give it to FOX. That would at least give us some good coverage.

I think PBS would be the go - they haven't got the money to make these tear-jerking 'Athlete gets a poor deal in life & fights against the world to be at the olympics' stories.

We have the same problem in Oz, the TV people give more coverage to some Australian who cames 4th, than the Ukrainian (or whoever) who gets the gold. I wish they gave the olympics to the ABC (not the American ABC, but the Australian one, the govt owned one, our equilivant to the BBC), instead of the bloody 7 network (our 5 'free to air' networks have the same channals across virtually the whole of Australia, so they are called the 7 network, the 9 network, etc).

ok, last night was the worst for Olympic blurbs. Apparently one of the USA basketball players was having a baby. so of course they made a segment out of this. they had film of his plane leaving sydney, film of it stopping over somewhere for refueling or something, and then footage of him landing in the US and getting of the plane!!!

then, to make matters worse, they put this whole itinery up on a little display that showed the exact times!
4:13 left Sydney
5:49 refueld in blah blah
8:19 landed in US
8:39 little baby so-and-so born

SHUT UP!! Who gives a fvck!??!?! and did you have to put up his whole itinerary?!?! if i was him i'd be freaked out, getting stalked like that.

also, nbc sucks because they only show 3 things: gymnastics, running, and swimming. that's all i've seen. THERE ARE MORE SPORTS THAN THOSE.

Fox would be awesome! I don't think Fox would show anything BUT the olympics (and football :p ) if they won the rights... they should just give the rights to Fox :)

LOL, Triumph, I'm guessing you're referring to Alonzo Mourning (sp?), the basketball player whose wife had a baby. I'm not arguing that anyone should give a crap about his itinerary, but I think the point they were trying to make with it was that he flew all the way home, then all the way back so he could see his wife and new child and still compete in the Olympics, which amounted to one massive amount of time on a plane. With his salary, he can afford it. ;)

I think this may be the worst Olympics in terms of coverage in recent memory - I just don't understand why we can't see anything live. I'm willing to get up at 3 in the morning to watch certain things if I can be assured Costas won't be there. I'm also disappointed that all we are seeing are US athletes, but there's probably a pretty large contingent of NBC's viewing audience that couldn't give a damn about any other country, so they're just pandering to the audience they expect.

Too much Bob Costa: the reason why this year's viewer rating was much lower than expected. Also, if NBC only shows the sports US has great chance of winning a medal, what's the point of watching. Except for gymnastics, 'cause it's got tear-jerking teenage girl stories... Poor NBC execs, too thick to even realize this. Any people from NBC reading this should do something.

I just read the article NSF4, it said that you are having commercial breaks every 4 minutes, no wonder everyone is tuning out.

Here in Oz, commercial TV networks, break their broadcast license agreements if they have commercial breaks less than 15 minutes apart, except at the bigginning & end of a program. Well its something like that anyway. Even though the commercial breaks are longer though in Oz, from my observation.

Which I think is better as you can piss of to the toilet or go to the fridge to get a beer. Lots of little commercial breaks every 4 minutes would drive one crazy.
