For a snowboarder who is good enough to be an olympian I am going to go out on a limb here and say he spends a ridiculous amount of time out on the slopes and training.

Combine his massive time commitment with his being below the median age of first child birth (~25.5) along with first marriage (~26.5) and yes - it is alternative compared to the norm

Exactly. Olympians don't get to be at the pinnacle of their sport by being a part timer. Relationships and children are not very compatible with thier quest for perfection.
Not only that, they typically earn very little money, but spend a considerable amount on training/travel and equipment. This is hardly an ideal setting for raising children

You obviously paid little attention to the olympics.

FYI David Wise is a SKIER, not a snowboarder.
