NBC Caught Altering Interview With Witness to Fit Police Narrative

Maybe I missed it from link, but what is NBC LAs motivation for doing this, and apparently repeatedly? Where is their profit, especially when this is the absolute antithesis of what journalism stands for?

Do they think helping to cover the lapd will put them in the same above the law type of existence?

I imagine the motivation is similar / familiar. A common human tact.

And my father has told me all about what happens when not only are you not an active party member, but take martial action against the occupying communists. He was born in Hungary, just starting university in Budapest during the infamous year of 1956. He took part in the week long uprising against the USSR, before they brought in massive amounts of troops and tanks and squashed it. For a week he was a soldier and not a student, fighting the red army with his fellow Hungarian's to such a degree that it was escape the country or die. How he managed to escape is an amazing story in its self.

At 18 he had to leave never to see family again until my dad and brothers all went back together in 1999.

Those like my father who took part in that resistance to communist occupation and had to leave or die are collectively known as '56ers in Hungary and I was quite surprised the amount of respect people still held in 1999 for those who fought an impossible fight for one week in 1956. What's really amazing is the house and vineyards my dad was born and lived in until university managed to stay in the family all through the years of the iron curtain and atrocious keeping of private property records. We stayed in the same house in 1999 as my father grew up in, I climbed the same cherry tree as he did, drank from the same huge wine barrels made from the same vineyards. Cool stuff for a father and their sons to experience.

And omg.. Budapest chicks and central European chicks.... I had no idea lol.

They may not be notified of press conferences or any thing at all in the future.

Bad reporting I.E. supporting the status quo means keeping in good graces equals keeping a job.

If a reporter does not toe the line they may become only a blogger of the "lunatic fringe". A high paying job with benefits and the perks that go with it are more important.

Besides "everyone is doing it" and they are only looking out for Number "1".

The attitude is "I got mine you get yours"

It is not about NEWS it's about selling commercial time.

I'm cynical enough to believe what you say is probably true, but it scares the hell out of me to admit it and think about its implications, especially when you consider what it means going forward.

The media is corrupt. They do not care what the truth is, only what they feel their viewers would watch. For Fox News its anti democrat stuff, CNN is anti republican stuff, MSNBC is...wait...is MSNBC still on?

I got flamed before when I said I don't watch the news. This shows why. Its all slanted, spun, or twisted to fit some agenda. In my eyes its the same as being lied to and I don't like being lied to. But the thing is, a large number of people want to be lied to. You see it every day in this forum. People disregard the truth and grasp at information that is spun in a way that makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Agreed. Many people suffer from confirmation bias. Many people can't even see it. The media knows this.

Deep down I've known this to be true and for quite some time. It just physically hurts to remember this ugly truth after putting it out of your mind for any length of time.

Most people get their confirmation bias stroked and sucked by the respective media whores that service their views, I know.

A nice distraction is thus provided to as many as possible to keep the attention away from the real power and goings on as possible.

Reality sucks man.

Those who daily succumb to the left vs. right bullshit as witnessed here are just as guilty, they're just jerking themselves off instead.

In other words, quid pro quo.

That being said, the infinite and seemingly interminable ratings wars that determine air time fees the networks charges its clients has had as a result of that intense kind of competition a desire to "do whatever it takes" to win, especially so in the area of news reporting.

Not saying the details of what I know for the sake of a good friendship, but when I was involved with negotiating labor contracts, high school and then college classmates of mine who became involved with reporting news whether written or broadcast always relied on my connection with the other negotiators to "get the scoop" on the other networks. I guess it was the holy grail of the trade. I was offered quite a few perks through the years before retiring, with all of those perks and gifts being totally off the books.

So I can sort of understand why, but still not approve of those methods to get on top of and then stay on top of the network ratings wars.

Pretty much. People don't want to believe they live in a society where cops can shoot them just for acting strangely. Reporters tell them they don't. Except when the reporters want to sell a different agenda anyway - sometimes it's the cops who can't win.

Cool story about your dad, Davmat, thanks. He has my admiration. Communism is a horrible evil. Although authoritarian fascism is no walk in the park either. 😀
 
And what do you think anyone can do about it? Seriously? There's no penalty for lying to us. Case in point. NBC willfully doctored the 911 tape from Zimmerman. He sued and was denied. What happened? All the GZ haters wet themselves with delight. The media can lie about anyone and ruin their life. OK, I get that GZ was / is a very unsympathetic character, but NBC should've been royally screwed for doing what they did. There is no one to watch over the watchers.
