I have to agree with the people who said Kidd is lying when he says it's not about the money. As mentioned all players say it isn't about the money. IF that were true wouldn't a bunch of these "not about the money" people call each other up and say hey we are all going to play for 2 mil this year and win a ring by dominating everyone? If they could get past their egos they could get together and come up with a truely awesome dynasty, but they just can't live knowing they make less than someone who isn't as good as them can they?

Maybe, we'll see. I think it really depends on how well the Nets do in the playoffs this year.

I agree with most other people in that the Spurs seem to have the best chance at Kidd, considering:

1. They're a championship team (will probably win it this year).
2. They've got most of the cash to burn on him.

As far as Kidd considering which team to sign with based on championship caliber players, I'd still say the Lakers have the advantage. Kobe + Shaq is too good of a combination to pass up, despite most of the mediocre players surrounding the two. It may come down to the fact that Lakers owner Jerry Buss is a cheap ass and simply can't "afford" Kidd.

Buss isn't Donald Sterling, so I think that criticism is unfair. While L.A. is arguably the largest (or 2nd behind NYC) NBA market, the Lakers do consistently have one of the highest payrolls of all teams. They've just been fortunate enough to have that $$$ pay off in recent years compared to say the Blazers or Knicks, so it doesn't appear they overspend.

It isn't that Buss or Kupchak doesn't want to pay for a premiere veteran, but that the salary cap rules essentially prevent the Lakers from offering anything but roughly the mid-level exception. I seriously doubt Kidd would join the Lakers for just Devean George money. ;)

Even if it miraculously is not about the money, pro athletes almost universally assign a measure of pride to their salary anyway. That'll make it unlikely for Karl Malone, for example, to accept much less than he's "worth on the open market".

IF the nets do Mutumbo for Houston, Knicks might even pay some of houstons salary for a couple of years. Knicks NEED this move more than the Nets to be honest. Knicks HAVE to start getting rid of some salary and they really need a center.

Houston is the Knicks franchise player... very unlikely that they would move him.
Spree goes before Houston does, I'm pretty sure.
Houston came off one of his best, if not the best year of his career.
While Spree did the exact opposite, coming off one of his worst. He has proven to be very inconsistent.

The Knicks do not need a center to be contenders in the EAST.
If the Knicks do need a big man, Mutumbo is not the one.
They already have an injured one on the bench in McDyess; they do not need another one.
(I would be confident enough to say that if McDyess were healthy this past season, the Knicks are an easy 4th seed in the East).
Mutumbo is barely even being used in this playoffs, which goes to show what confidence they have in him.
I highly doubt anyone will trade for a 37 year old center on his decline, esp. for a budding all-star in his prime such as Houston.

Nah, that's rampant speculation at best. You cannot say for certain the Houston and Thomas would have had such good years IF McDyess was getting his shots. You don't know what the chemistry of having McDyess in there would have done to or for the team. to say that they would have been 4th seed w/o a doubt is fan speculation.

Everything is speculation.

The Knicks lost a lot of close games this season, as they always do (close meaning games decided by 1 possession).
McDyess brings to them a true post-up presence, which will give the rest of them even better 3 point looks... the Knicks are already one of the leagues best 3 shooting teams; they're #2 I think behing the Mavs (?).

He also brings athleticism to them, which neither Thomas, Harrington and Weatherspoon have.
That means more fast breaks, dunks, and offensive rebounds.

We can argue this for days, since it is speculation, but you can't argue that any GM in their right minds would trade for Mutumbo at this point.
I personally thought it was a huge mistake when the Nets traded for him. He's already showed in previous years that he's just as effective on Shaq as any other center. Plus he's slow and old and ruins the team chemistry.

Boston acquired Vin Baker. need i say more?

I'm from Seattle and I'd just like to say thanks for taking Vin Baker and his BS away.

I think J.Kidd should come to Seattle but it will never happen.

But to be honest, When SEATTLE traded for Vin Baker he was worth getting. he looked to be the next karl malone. he had TONS of talent and potential.

for boston to do it was just ridiculous.

Boston did it to cut salery for this year so the Team could be sold. We got screwed.

Yes you did, because the baker signing basically eliminated any chance you might have had in the playoffs. I still don't understand why you guys let K Anderson go away. He was a key reason the Celts played well vs NJ last year.

I can't understand that one either seeing as how we let Gary Payton go on the same day. Now we don't have a true point guard. I hope Kidd goes to San Antonio and somehow Tony Parker ends up in Seattle.

Good players make scrub's good, and thats what Duncan does to parker/ginobli. Kidd is a good player that will compliment Duncan. THis is and will be a necessity if the spurs plan on repeating:)D) against a better, more determined and prime Laker team of next year.

Scrubs? Do you have any idea who Ginobli was before he came to the NBA? It's his first year and I certainly haven't seen Barkeley screaming anyone else's name as loud as Gino's. Kidd isn't a necessity. With Robinson gone San Antonio will probably look for another big man to compliment Tim and who's telling what else. I doubt J. Kidd will be coming to San Antonio.

You would think the Nets would try their best to keep him but if they don't I think he might be making an appearance at San Antonio.
