So I wanna make this NBA trade navigator zorch. What would it do?
Well, much like that 3D thesaurus doohickey, you'd click on players, and it would bring them to the front (I'd like to find a Java librabry that'll do that 3D linkage crap) and then when you click on their names (the names of a player involved in a trade) it would bring you to forefront the player(s) they were traded for. In this fashion you could follow a chain of players.
For example, you could see that Darius Miles was traded for Andre Miller. And then that Miles was traded for Jeff McInnis. So you could visually see that, the Cavs esentially swapped Miller for McInnis. You could also store the length of these "chains" to perhaps, for novelty's sake, see the longest chain or whatever.
Anyway, there are a couple of issues I was curious about:
1). Does this sound neat to anyone but me?
2). Does anyone know of a free Java library that'll do that 3D crapola? The JDBC/database crap I can do, I guess.
3). Does anyone know where to get this trade data (say, for the last 10 years?)
4). Does anyone want to [Thisisnottheword]stab Dirk Nowitski in the neck with a pencil?
Poop.
