Tim Duncan will suddenly miss the beautiful beaches of St. Croix and return home. San Antonio's remaining foreign players are no match for Dallas's. So I predict the Mavericks will advance in 4. :p

I hope the Mavs win. They shouldn't have been the underdog to Portland. They are a better team than most people give them credit for. Problem is, they will play the best team in the league in this series and not make it to the finals, which means the second best remaining team will not get the recognition it deserves.

But I know SA is going to win, question is when? I predict SA wins in 6. Mavs just don't have any inside guys who can slow down Duncan and Rose. If Webber had been healthy, the Kings would have beaten the Mavs also because of their weak interior defense (which is actually better this year than last).

In the offseason Mavs fans can only hope we use our 4.5 million salary exception on a hard nosed interior defender for next season.

I predict the Spurs to win. There is a good chance that it will be a sweep, unless Dallas has a helluva game like their game 2 versus Sac. All bets are off with an injury though.

Anyone think the Mavs should try for Malone? I think he might provide a tougher post-game which the mavs desperately need.

if parker and bowen come out shooting like the laker series, and duncan does the job inside, mav's wont have a chance. but like i said, it all depends if s.a. comes out to shoot. if its all duncan, its not going to be easy, might not happen at all.

That would be true of the old Malone. The Malone of the last couple of years has an anemic post game. He is more of a mid-range jumper guy. Think an older Juwan Howard. And how badly did Dallas want Juwan the last time they had him? Nope they need a guy that makes a living in the trenches, digging out rebounds and getting his points off of layups and put backs. Plus he needs to be able to defend PF/C. Who out there does that kind of stuff?

You do realize Dallas split the season series with the Spurs, right? Dallas can play with San Antonio as well as anyone. The Spurs are great but not invincible. They have a lot of solid young guys, but Duncan is their only stud player. I think Dallas is closer to the Spurs than they are the Kings with a healthy Webber.

PJ Brown would be perfect. I would also pick up Dale Davis if he's available cheap. Considering the depth in Dallas, a sign and trade with the Pacers for Jermaine O'Neal might also be possible if O'Neal decides that he doesn't want to stay with the Pacers.

As far as Dallas splitting the season series, I would only like to emphasize that it was the REGULAR season - we are now in playoff basketball and the Spurs are playing at a much higher level than anyone else both offensively and defensively. The lack of the tough defensive interior presence in Dallas will kill the Mavs unless Nick the Quick pulls another Denver vs Seattle series out of the air. Nick is the definitive X-factor in this series. He stays hot, and Dallas will be in every game until the final seconds.

As far as the series being split, that is misleading. The last game didn't matter for San Antonio (4th game of the series was the last regular season game) so they didn't play their starters at all in the second half, at least not that I know of. The basically handed the game to the Mavs (who kept their starters in and still only won 93-72). Not only that but Parker, Ginobili and Bowen weren't playing at the level they are playing out now during the regular season. San Antonio will win, I just don't know in how many games. It will be a tense series though because Dallas always plays good against San Antonio.

My guess, Spurs in 6.

The regular season series was really 2-1 in favor of the Spurious. The final game was meaningless for SA, so Tim Duncan wasn't even on the roster for it (injured list).

Mavericks will advance in 4? Are you out of your mind? I would bet my life that has no chance of happening.

Who really cares besides Texas? The de facto NBA Finals was decided when the Spurs beat the Lakers. :p

I wonder how Spurs will take care of Nash/Excel/Nowitzky in the perimeter and Finely/bradley in the post position. Should be an awesome game! Drool:D!

finley/bradley arnt exactly what you can call forces in the paint. duncan/robinson/rose should be able to dominate the front court. its going to come down to whether ginobili, parker and jackson can hit the open looks they'll get when duncan gets double teamed. Spurs are able to run too so all the 3 pts that the mavs take will lead to some easy points assuming they dont shoot lights out. I'm actually more curious to see what the spurs do in the offseason for free agent acquistion. I wish they'd wait another year before getting the free agent. can you imagine what it would be like if they pulled kevin garnet from the twolves and had the best damn frontcourt in the league?

You're talking about the Dallas vs Sac series right? Because San Antonio doesn't play that kiddy style game...

If I were in charge of the universe, I would NOT double Duncan. Let him score 40 points, but keep the rest of the Spurious down. I don't think Dallas can stop Duncan even with double team :(
