Woah. Elton Brand just went to Philly.

A legitimate PG in Miller.
A good shot blocker and rebounder in Sammy D.
A do it all SG/SF in Andre
Now Brand playing the PF slot....

That's a team that can play with some serious heart and has the skills to back it now.

The east could be interesting this year.
Boston
ATL showed they can play.
Chicago should hopefully recover out of their funk.
Toronto picked up J'O to play along Bosh
Orlando will have another year to mature
Now Philly makes a move and picks up a 20/10/2 guy in the way of Brand.

Could be an interesting season.

Does this take signing bonuses into account?

Yes, signing bonuses are divided equally among the guaranteed (i.e., non-option) years of a contract for team salary calculations.

Unlike the NFL, most of the $$ in NBA contracts are guaranteed, so signing bonuses are not such a big deal.

As a Warriors fan the last week has been a roller coaster.
Baron opts out: meh, he'll resign.
Baron has agreement with Clippers: Crap! (low), but that means lots of cap room, hmmm (heading back up).
Offer made to Brand: very interesting.
Clippers won't come close to matching it: this is getting good!
76ers get Brand: Triple crap!
Warriors sign Magette for ~$10M/yr: Ugh!
Warriors make ~$4M year offer to Turiaf: double ugh!

I gotta stop being a sports fan.

Thanks for the reply back guys. I'm like a 5 year-old when it comes to this stuff. "Why dad, why?"
