nba question

exactly what i thought.

*edit* they are better at basketball? more marketable? more appealing to the youth of today? have greater ability to make their team owners money?

It's not a "better" thing, it's a "what is the makeup of amateur players the NBA has to choose from" question. If it were just a black/white thing there wouldn't be any eastern European players since they're about as white as you can get.

true but it seems the ratio seems to be increasing. back in the days, we had majority of white players.

What do you consider "back in the days"?

i guess back when they didn't allow black players to even play the game? or when it was very hard for them to do so.

Guys, it's a cultural thing, not a race thing. Look at what sports are popular with what groups (speaking generally, of course), then look at the racial makeup at the pro level. Pretty similar eh? Of course, this could all be very different 20 years down the road according to the ebb and flow of the popularity of various sports. Golf is mostly a white sport right now, but there was a big surge in popularity amonst minority players thanks to Tiger. 10 years from now that could mean a lot of non-white kids are picking up golf at a young age. More people playing increases the likelyhood that some really talented players will emerge and change the profile of the pro golf ranks.

More like there are MORE black players that are better than the white ones.

Simple answer.

Any sport is like is that.

Why are there more white hockey players? Because not too many black people are good at hockey.

How do you know they're not? They really don't play hockey so you can't say they're not any good at it.

Damn you guys are dense sometimes.

did u get a thread locked just a little while ago, for asking if there would be 5 white guys on the same team on the floor at the same time??

Dogg

Another thing with hockey is the cost. Unfortunately a lot of the professional athletes that are African American are from inner city homes and from poor (for lack of a better word) families. Not many inner city kids, or poor kids have the opportunity to play hockey because it is so damn expensive.

(I know i am generalizing a lot here, but you get my point.)

black ppl are generally more athletic than other groups...once they have access to a sport they generally excel and take it over (ie. basketball, football, baseball, track & field, etc).

golf and hockey are generally still white sports, but c'mon how many blacks have access to golf/hockey equipment and courses/rinks (very expensive sports) ...once they do watch out!

Explain to me how black people are "more athletic" than other groups despite the fact that we're all the same species?

Aren't the muscle fibers of African Americans more tightly wound making them (in a sense) better natural athletes?

Thought i heard that somewhere, or something similar. I really don't know.

Agreed. Look at Golf & Tennis, and you don't see many blacks either, since these sports generally much more $$$ to play than a regular game of Basketball.

Problem with this argument is that GOLF IS NOT A SPORT!
