NBA: New York Knicks fire Larry Brown

iamme

Lifer
i don't have a link, but the local radio is confirming that LB is canned. it may be a buyout, so LB is looking to make some serious bank from the Pistons and Knicks, for not coaching!

I can't wait until Isiah tries to take over coaching the team himself, fails miserably and FINALLY gets fired.

*tries to look shocked* Seemed pretty obvious when the rumors started flying around that he wouldn't be coaching next season. I didn't really like the guy but I hate how professional teams can a coach after a season or two because of the teams ****** performance. You can't turn coal into diamonds over night.

especially when the coals cost more than the diamonds to begin with, lol

agreed. isaiah needs to coach this team and prove it can win to get credibility back.

is there a team willing to hire LB now?

he's got credentials, but he's proved over the past two years, he comes with a TON of drama and baggage.

He doesn't come with it, the Knicks do.

agreed, altho LB has had problems with drama in the past, i think this instance it was more Ike and the Knicks than it was LB.

2 teams buy out his contract to get him out of town.......both season were filled with drama. yes, LB comes w/ tons of drama/baggage.

btw, rumor has him going to Charlotte for obvious reasons (UNC connection, MJ there, etc).

actually a young team like that might suit LB's coaching.

Brown fired, Thomas to coach

isiah thinks he can pull a pat riley. good luck with that team!

Pat Riley had a rings as coach to go with that stunt, Isiah doesn't

I actually feel bad for Larry brown, he shouldn't be to blame solely for the knicks awful season. The whole team didn't click. Yes he shouldn't have feuded with Marbury, but its not just Marbury-Brown - you have a whole team full of traded underachievers (thanks to Thomas): Q Richardson (great at PHX, sucked as a knick), Curry (why!!!), the Roses. and the only bright side are the 3 young guys - Frye Robinson and Lee - but too young to win games.

as a knick fan, i think they should've gave brown another season at it to prove something. i guess the "knick dream job " will be a footnote now

The two teams that bought out his contract were riddled with drama themselves.

incorrect. the Pistons weren't riddled with drama last season. any off the court antics were caused by LB (flirting w/ the Cavs and talking about his "dream job" in NY)

No way, they got too many talented young guys.

Well, that was stupid. Brown has always done great in the second and third years he is with a team. Why fire him after the first?

Oh wait...we're talking about Isiah Thomas as the GM.

the clock's ticking Isiah's reign in NY as well. i can't imagine him staying too much longer after another disappointing season.

agreed. they should've left Larry Brown alone for at least another half season

Like the Knicks were actually a playoff team BEFORE Larry Brown came along. They sucked then too. To blame their suckage on LB is just a cop out.

i just heard a figure of somewhere around $40M buyout. combine with the about $10M from the Pistons.......dude, he's making unbelieveable amount of money without a job.
