NBA: NBA Fans, Celtics, are they legit?

with Allen, Pierce and KG, i don't see how they couldn't be serious contenders in the East.

with a decent supporting cast and those three, i'd say they are probably as good as anyone out west as well.

obviously they will have to work together, but even without great chemistry, i'd say they are serious contenders in the east. with chemistry, this team could go all the way.

they don't have a decent supporting cast is the problem, although they should easily make the playoffs and lose to the bulls 🙂

Three guys that are no spring chickens with very little bench to back them. Injury and fatigue are serious concerns.

They won't win the Finals this year simply because their supporting cast is weak and their team defense is not that good. The Suns and Spurs should be able to take them down. In the EC, I think the Bulls and Cavs can give them a run for their money. Just watch ESPN right now, Cavs vs. Celtics, it's not a blowout at all simply because the Cavs play much better D than the Celtics.

I suspect that they will make some key additions next offseason, which will definitely make them the team to beat.

A supporting cast around those 3!?????? THOSE 3!!?!?!??! THEY ONLY PLAY 5 AT A TIME......

They are legit, 100%.

KG loves to pass, rebound and dunk, Pierce will shoot horribly but get to the FT line, and RayRay will have more open 3-pointers than ever before.

Nobody is saying they aren't legit, the question is can they win it all? Nothing less than a championship will be acceptable, Boston mortgaged their future on these 3 players.

They seem to have good chemistry right now, but again I think their team defense is lacking. The freaking Cavs are able to penetrate and get open looks which is disturbing considering they are still missing 2 of their starters.

Who knows how the team defense is?
What about the bench thats another unknown?
Better hope Allen and Pierce have more on nights than off.

But when those 3 are clicking, they are going to be a hard team to stop.

Yep, defense is going to be a big question mark, but I think Garnetts energy is going to rub off on all of them.

I think they will definitely be for real. Championship caliber? No way. I think even as skilled as Garnett is, he's a reluctant 4th quarter player. Pierce and Allen are streaky and poor % shooters, and step up their defense only as a last resort. They won't get by the Bulls.

Good enough to contend in the east yes... good enough to win the east ... not likely.

Good enough to beat the West & win it all? No.

Pistons vs. Celtics last night was a hell of a game. I could see these two teams battling it out in a 7 game series.

it was nice (as a Pistons fan) to hand Boston their first home loss of the season 🙂
what the Celtics have in star power, the Pistons have in playoff/big-game experience.

What a disappointment. 🙁

They're playing a lot better now tho...500 is within reach and could still be a playoff contender if they take it to the next level.

Pistons will beat Celtics 7 out of 10 times due to post season experience. I can't see Celtics making it out of the eastern conference this year.

teamwork is crucial. anyone remember the trailblazers when they had sabonis, rasheed wallace, pippen, steve smith, damon studomire and a solid bench with bonzi wells a couple of years ago and lost to the lakers in the first round? that was disappointing.

I have a feeling fatigue will catch up with them as season progresses. Not having decent bench can hurt you a lot, especially in the playoffs where offense is all half court and there are lots of grinding and attrition.
