<< i see, so the 20 second timeout is a relic of the past without any significance now.
thank you trmiv. do you frequent lakersground.net by chance? your name sounds familiar
>>

well, resting for 1 minute is a lot better than resting for 20 seconds... you dont just pick a time to waste a 1 minute timeout.. thats why you have more 20 seconds than 1 minute timeouts

<< What I would like to know about BBall is this: When you get fouled, how come only sometimes you go to the foul line. From what I can remember, when you get fouled, only if you were attempting to shoot a basket, do you get to go to the foul line and shoot a basket? How does that work? Cuz in the end minutes of the game, when they foul someone, they always go to the line to shoot two shots. >>

Any play where the player was considered in the act of shooting will net him a free throw opportunity. Also after a team has racked up a certain number of fouls they get penailzed. Every foul after that gives the other team an opportunity to shoot free throws. This is different because they only get one opportunity to shoot, if they make it they get another shot but if they miss its over and the ball is up for grabs.

To the best of my knowledge this is right, if I'm in error someone please let me know...
