what do you think fellas?? 5 games or 7 games??


was the 7 game first round series a COMPLETE FVCK UP??. Do we need 7 games?

only one series is gonna go 6 mb 7 games. 4 were sweeps.

YTF do we need 7 game series?

the irony is, the NBA did it in order to get more ratings, but how stupid was that? seems like they would have wanted to get thru round one quickly and focus marketing on second round.
 
The whole reason the NCAA tournament and NFL playoffs are so fun is that they sudden death -- one loss and you're done. Best-of series in the NBA and MLB eliminate alot of that fun in the quest for dollars. That's why I have difficulty getting interested in the NBA playoffs.

ya, but you do have to allow for some tv revenues. nba will never have the type of draw the NFL does, NFL rules all sports in america. the NCAA starts with 64 teams, nba starts with 16 teams.

so unless you want EVERY nba team in a single elimination tournament it just wouldn't work. single elimination with 16 teams would be done in what 2 weeks?

(yes, i know the Pistons were saved last year because of the 7 game format 🙂)

no, i was talking about the Orlando series (1st round). Orlando was 3-1, and then the Pistons became one of the few teams in NBA history to come back and win. i think that 8 out of 150 teams have comeback from 3-1 deficits.

Pistons vs. Nets start this Monday.....should be goooooood 😀

there is a chance tho that the Nets won't be able to sweep the pistons this year. 😉
 
the 5 to 7 games is only half the problem. a couple of years ago they started extending the length of time between games in each series. for example some teams play on sunday and then dont play again until thursday, which is absurd.
 
The current NBA first-round format is an ugly money grab. For one, they want more games, or at least hope for more, because it means more $$$. The OTHER issue is that they are terrified of a big-ticket franchise, say, the Lakers, losing in the first-round. We all know best-of-seven usually means the better team wins, and so does the NBA. They don't want a big-ticket team losing early, IMO.
 
no..this lets the better team advance..as it should be.

only the better team is allowed to advance...that's why i always thought nfl and ncaa is kinda not representative of the best team winning every time..that's why it's hard for me to get into the nfl and ncaa ...
 
5 games. My pacers been off for a fuckin week now. The 7 game series takes way too much time for the first round. They need to work the days better in order to have it a 7 game series for the first round. The first round should not take 2 weeks to complete especially since everyone is waiting on the damn Miami vs New Orleans match to be over with.
