particularly the block of Duncans Dunk by Stoudemire. Duncan was CLEARLY coming down with the ball and the Stoudemire's hand was CLEARLY in the cylinder when he blocked it.

how was that NOT a Goal Tend?

Duncan's still holding the ball, duh, like the broadcaster said, that's a MAN block.

err...because it was still in Duncan's hand? Easy. Just because you are dunking does not mean you should have free reign

that was a clear block....0wned!!

and every dunk is on its way down....so if it goes by your rule... you can never block a dunk

ya, that kind of works but not entirely.

to be honest, all dunks should be Goal Tends also, as the offensive player CLEARLY is touching the ball while the ball is in the cylinder.

His hand started out in front of the rim, he made contact with the ball, and then it was driven into the cylinder as Duncan continued to force the ball down. No goaltend.

Amazing wrist strength to stop Duncan like that.

amare got pissed at the end of the game after manu grabbed him ( and he knocked manu down).

his block/rebound at the end of the game and defense on duncan won them the game.

If it's still in the hand, the ball is not in the act of going from the shooter to the basket

I assume he has to let go of the ball for it to be goaltending. Remarkable block, most people would have gotten a broken wrist.

The ball is still in the shooter's hand is why. A shot has not actually occurred until the shooter releases the ball.

If the shooter has control of the ball, it can not be considered a goal block.
