3/15 EDIT: Here are the Piston's defensive accomplishments this season: (ripped from another site)

  • First team to hold an opposing team's entire roster to single digits. Hasn't been done in the modern era of NBA basketball.

Longest consecutive streak holding teams under 100 in a single season in the modern era.

Most games in a single season holding teams under 100 in the modern era.

Most games in a season holding teams under 70 (9) in the modern era.

Longest consecutive streak of holding opposing teams under 70 (5) in the modern era. (Currently more than doubled the old record)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3/14 EDIT: unbelievable! Pistons keep the Sixers under 70 points, extending the record to 5 straight teams!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pistons set an NBA record by holding 4 straight teams under 70 points.

During which, their average margin of victory has been over 27 points!

The Pistons have been really playing amazing defense, since acquiring Rasheed. I didn't know what to expect when Sheed came, but I realize that he's a great team player. He moves the ball around well and he plays good defense.

hey the Pistons had a 13 game winning streak too :D

one thing i think we both agree upon, is that the top Eastern teams (Det, NJ, and Ind) are getting closer to the top Western teams. I don't think the Finals are going to be clear cut this year. i can see NJ, Detroit, or Indiana giving the Western Conf. winner a run for their money. The only team i can see dominating is L.A....ONLY if K.Malone, Payton, Shaq, and Kobe are all healthy.

NJ lost a pretty close game against LA in LA this weekend WITHOUT KIDD.

so, NJ Full strength, LA Full strength (LA had kobe and Malone on the bench) will be interesting.

but ya, detroit looks very very strong.

Pistons have a damn strong paint force now. I love that they're back to defensive-minded ball.

Which would be better...

i really think it will depend on how well the Pistons do in the playoffs. if the Pistons make it to the Finals while NY gets knocked out the first round, i can't see how Sheed will want to leave Detroit. Sheed's been a great teammate so far. he's been cheering from the bench, he's the first to congratulate teammates, and *gasp* he's actually doing interviews in Detroit :D

most importantly, he really looks like he's having fun on the team.

stay in Detroit, Sheed!

I really believe NBA Finals 2004 will be Los Angeles vs. Detroit. That's how everything is shaping up. The Sheed trade was awesome for Detroit, I really hope he stays with them.
