NEW YORK (AP) -- H-O-R-S-E has galloped into the NBA's All-Star weekend. The popular shooting contest will be part of TNT's coverage of All-Star Saturday night, the network announced Tuesday. Three NBA players, who will be revealed later, will take part. The competition will take place outdoors at the NBA's All-Star Block Party in Phoenix on Feb. 14. The dunk contest, 3-point shootout and skills challenge are later Saturday night, and the All-Star game is Sunday. If a player makes a shot in H-O-R-S-E, the next competitor must make the same shot or receive a letter. Players will have 24 seconds to execute their shots, and an NBA referee will rule if they're done properly. Dunking won't be allowed. A player gets an 'H' for his first miss and is eliminated once he has all five letters of the word.

This will either be hilarious or boring as hell. Hopefully it will be awesome

According to the article, no dunks allowed.
NBA refs to judge if shots properly done, so who knows how that will go

*envisions MJ and Bird standing atop the Hancock building*

So if this competition is outside...does that mean I can drive down there and watch?

Are "swishes" allowed?

uh.. that would be called "nothing but net" you also have, bank, and no rim... atleast when i played...

As long as you call it, I would think they would allow it. I think the only stipulation they mentioned in the article was about the dunks

It doesn't count right if you call a shot, make the shot but in the manner that you called it? I haven't played bball in ages, especially HORSE but this should be fun to watch.

if you called nbn and hit rim or backboard, no it does not count...

should be fun watching people try to shot 3 pointers with their opposite hand.

I remember years ago reading a book by Magic Johnson after one of the Lakers champion ship seasons. He did say that they would play HORSE after practice and Cooper was one of the first to start taking shots from the stands.

Oh fuck yeah. It's about fucking time they put in something I would actually wanna watch. 3 point contest got kinda lame after a couple of years. Dunk contest, there's no competition. The skills competition is like watching a hamster running in its cage wheel. Now HORSE, that shit gonna be entertaining! Too bad I canceled my cable, so I won't be watching it. Maybe I'll get it off the grapevine or watch it on youtube later.

Bill Simmons just creamed himself.

Haha, my first thought as well.

KT

Yep. This was his whole idea in the first place. They should let him play in it since he thought of it, and, you know, since he's like the only remaining NBA fan on the face of the earth.
